Sounds like the timer is not advancing is certain cycles? timers have contact points that can burn and seize up sticking close and not allowing the next cycle to move

There have been problems with the motor wire harness connector on these washers. The problems are either a loose or bent terminal in the molex connector.
Unplug the connector and tug on each wire. If a wire comes loose from the plug, bend the locking tab up. If a locking tab is not properly seated in the plug connector, the terminals will not fully engage as the connector is plugged into the motor.
Another manifestation of this problem is that one of the terminals may be bent. Inspect the terminals on the motor side of the connector. Straighten any bent terminals if they exist. Recheck the harness side of the terminal block if any bent terminals are found. Bent terminals can indicate a problem with the locking tab inside the plug.
If this doesn't work then the motor control card is suspect.

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune front load washer model MAH3000AW,
YOU MEAN LOUD DURING SPIN CYCLE? IF THAT SO, WHAT KIND OF NOISE? BANGING NOISE MEANS YOU HAVE UNBALANCED LOAD OR ONE OF THE SUSPENSION IS BAD OR FELL OFF. GRINDING NOISE MEANS YOU HAVE A BAD TUB BEARING, TO REPLACE THAT, YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE REAR TUB ASSEMBLY, VERY COSTLY. MEANS YOU PROBABLY BE BUYING A NEW WASHER.

It is so common that the washing machine can make terrible noise in many ways and is a common fault. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that machine is vibrating when it is running then the motor /drum suspension has to be inspected. Since these fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for the noise with a good inspection lamp. Manually turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the mounting is also very important. Finally in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve most issues. Now in this case the failure of the motor drive or the agitator shaft could have resulted in total failure of the spin cycle. Now remove the panel and check manually the movement fo the motor and the main drive, if the shaft is struck up or if the motor bearings/bushes are worn out. It is important to check the voltage on the motor as the absence of the voltage means that the controller has some fault - possible failure of the drive after a heavy load of the malfunction. Try adjusting the feet at the bottom of the washing machine, they turn both ways and are easily to turn.
