There is nothing to reset on this amp, it has no microprocessor.

Resets for electronic equipments are for clearing any software glitches that the microprocessor uses to do complex functions. I have only seen microprocessors in a couple of Kenwood amplifiers, and I have fixed many Fosgate amplifiers including this model. If you are not gettng any sound from it, you may have a blown channel. It is the most common failure I have seen in these. If that is the problem with yours, you need to take it to a service center that works on Rockford Fosgate amps, they have output transistors that are mounted on what is called a "mesha rail" and you can not change out just the 1 or 2 that are shorted, you must replace the entire rail because the transistors can not be removed from the rail and there are no generic parts for them as well.

I hope this helps you with your problem, deciding what you can do with it. It is a very good amplifier and in most cases it is worth the repair cost. You can not get a different amplifier of the same quality for less than the repair cost which usually runs about $125 at my shop.

Let me know if I can be any more help to you.

SOURCE: 401s Rockford Fosgate Amp. Not powering on,just protect lite is on.

the problem is mostly with your audio side of the amp. i have a 800 Rockford punch series amp hooked in series running at about 15 vdc at 2 ohms stable for now. but the amps left front power side transistors overloaded and smoked out, i will be replaceing my mosfets soon. Now on that side your issues apear to be related to the signal side of the amp. when you hooked the amp up tell me breifly did you hook the rca inputs to the back of the sterio and did you select the proper rca inputs for the amp? also note that amps have a potentiomater that can be tuned up or down to allow the volume or wattage to go up or down threw the system. if it's turned all the way down you'll here nothing. but often you'll get a pop sound or quickly see the speaker move a bit. this indicated the signal side of the amp has signal comming in but no output, just look for a turnable small screw inside the amp top or side. and turn up acordingly. note: to much output will damadge your system. not just the amp. ;)

What would cause 1 channel of a Rockford Fosgate T800.4ad 4 channel Amp to fry speakers while there are no such problems with the other 3 channels?

Question: what starts to smoke, the speaker or the amp? I'm assuming it's the amp. It cant be a fuse because that's what fuses are for to cut the power on an overload or surge. I would have a look at you circuit board for the amp My guess is what you;ll find is a burnt spot on the board and that will tell you what component is bad and needs replacing. Good Luck

When i hook up the amp the protect light comes on. whats wrong

If all of your wiring is right, then that's a protection circuit telling you it's time to have your unit serviced by an authorized service center. Sorry for the bad news.

Amp not working

It sounds like you either blew a fuse, or you cooked your amp. The fuse on the P200.2 amp is a 30A fuse, and it sits right next to the power, ground, and remote wire connections on the end. Pull the fuse out and see if it's blown. You should also check any other fuses that you have in the car before the amp.

Rockford amp cut out

Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect the RCAs. Replace the 30 amp fuse with a 15 amp fuse. If you turn it on and it blows the fuse, it's likely that it has shorted output transistors. If that's the case, you need to have the amp repaired.

ROCKFORD FOSGATE T30001bd AMPLIFIER

if the amp is still under warranty, i would rma it. there is no easy way to tell what happened without opening the amp up, but from your description, it sounds like it fried the board, or at the very least fried some of the capacitors inside the amp (although the smoke would usually be a bluish white if this were the case). this seems to happen if you are running them at anything over 15-16 volts, i have seen two of these fry at 18 volts.

it could be something as simple as a shorted wire or trace at the fuse receptacle, but once again, your best bet if it is under warranty would be to rma it and ask them to let you know what happened to it.
