Re: auto paper feeder not taking paper
Try removing the paper, then removing the drum from the machine. Check to see there are no obstructions, then re-insert the drum, making sure that the gears mesh properly. Load the paper, setting the paper width guides and then try printing a report.

Check to make sure that the rollers are in good condition inside the top feeder.
Also make sure that there is NO object or anything that the paper is hitting against by manually feeding the paper and carefully observe the paper path
It sounds as if the document feeder is not recognizing the proper size of paper. Try making a copy, is the copy correct or is the copier indicating to load a certain size of paper. The paper width guides as well as the raised tabs on the document feeder tell the copier the proper paper size. Could the problem be on the other end? I know I have several customers that have the paper size dials or indicators incorrect for the paper in their cassettes. This would be if only a single reciever of your fax is complaining. You may want to see if rotating the fax in the LTR-R direction works.
This is one of the worest designed feeder from Canon. Have you had the feeder rebuilt recently? If not that will improve it greatly. I would also, go into the user settings and turn the fax exit to recurite late doc. As I said, it is a bear to take this feeder apart if you have not done it before... Good Luck
When you hear the fax signal press the start button on your machine. If this does not work attempt to just make a copy of a document without sending to test the document feeder - help the document by gently pushing the document into the machine when it should be feeding. If you can feel the machine trying to grab it but it doesn't have enough strentgh or it will feed with your help then the feed rollers are probably dirty and you may be able to open up the top cover and clean the rubber rollers with alcohol or degreaser. If the feed rollers do not even turn when trying to make a copy then you may have a motor, belt or clutch problem. If it copies well but will not send, then you will probably have a modem or fax lead problem. Try a new fax lead.
The fax machine is trying to print fax recieved copies on the bypass feeder.
Check up the setup menu on the control console.
Fine fax recieve.
You should find a selection for fax recieved in which paper tray.
Check this area, any that have the bypass feeder, de-select it.
Make selections for 8 1/2 x 11 paper in tray one.
Youll find that the most common problem with fax machines is that the scanner head that the paper passes over actually gets gritty and dirty. Remember it only takes a spek sitting in there.
Try a damp cloth (not to much Water) and wipe down the sensor reader, It will take a little bit of trial and error but mainly this is the common problem. also try wiping down all the wheels and rollers that the paper runs over as well. Otherwise it could be the recieval end that has a dirty paper feed wheel.
Sometimes it is also common that the internal scanner/sensor reader wears out and needs replacement.
IF this is the case its generally cheaper to buy another fax. Hopefully the above helps for you so you dont have to buy another one
Have you still getting the problem, have you done cleaning of Cartridge, its nozzle and Contact strip.. then cleaning of Printer roller or carriage rack.. Do a Service of it or get it done by Technician.
Also check the feeder tray.. to grab paper one by one by printer.. Manually
