I have a GE Profile Spetra Gas oven/range that I inherited when I bought my house. I believe the stove was bought sometime in 2000. I can get the model if needed. When I tried to light the stove top the igniters click but the gas wouldn't flow right away. Initially it probably took 2-3 minutes to light. Then the problem started getting worse over time and now it probably takes 20 minutes to a half hour before the gas flows. Any ideas what would cause this? It's a natural gas stove and all the other natural gas appliances (fireplace, dryer) seem to work fine.
Hi,
The ignitor is not working right and is going bad....

I have the same problem. Is there a delay that can be adjusted to fix this? So far mine seems to take 30 seconds for gas to flow and it doesn't matter which burner I light first. After the gas flows and the burner is lit, I can shut it off and immediately light any of the burners without delay.
I was able to fix mine. All of the burners did act the same way. My problem turned out to be a bad pressure regulator. I replaced the service hose first, which didn't fix it, and then the regulator which solved the problem. Works like a charm now.
What I believe was happening was the regulator wasn't holding a steady pressure of 4 inches of the water column. I was able to verify this by holding a match to the burner. After a couple mins it would light and the flame would look like it was on "simmer" when it really was on "high". Over then next several minutes the flame would grow to "high". To me that meant that the pressure inside the stove lines was gradually building up to the correct pressure.
I have the same problem with my Hotpoint gas stove. The top burners will take up to 20-30 seconds to light the first time. All of the burners will do the same thing. You can hear that there is no gas flowing. Then when the gas flows, it lights right away. I checked the plumbing and there is an individual valve for each burner. All valves are fed by the same pipe from the regulator. This tells me that there is little or no pressure in the line from the regulator. I am buying one now to fix the problem.
I have the problem with my gas burner, it does not light. More specific is, it does not give the click click sound, which parts I should order? it's a maytag GAS burner. Do I need to order ignitor or spark something?
