I have a Topaz 20 and my machine has started freezing during embroidery. The lights are on, plugs are secure, but none of the buttons work. If I turn it off and back on it will work for a while the it will do it again. Could it possible be something with the USB port? Any help or suggestions?
Is it a mechanical machine or computerized? If mechanical, it could need a good cleaning and oiling. Mechanical machines need to be oiled, and if not, the old oil solidifies and prevents the mechanical parts from moving.

The problem is probably the foot control. The little wires wrapped around the insulator have broken and are shorting against each other or the cord itself has a short. You can purchase an aftermarket foot control at your local shop, this is the cheapest way to try first, if that does not correct the problem replace the cord.

The overload message is usuall due to a bind in the mechanical function of the machine. When the motor has an extra "load" caused by something like a tight belt or dry bearing, it "overloads" the motor and the error message is displayed. It is doubtful your problem is computer related. Either way a trip to your service tech is required. If you continue to sew with it, you do run the risk of possible damage to some other parts of your machine. The computer portion of your Husqvarna is guaranteed for 5 years and the mechanical parts carry a 20 or 25 year guarantee depending on when you purchased your machine. A copy of your bill of sale from a Husqvarna Viking dealer or a stamped warranty card is the proof of purchase needed to obtain warranty replacement of parts. Labor is only guaranteed for 1 year.
