the bettary life of n70 really too short. if u want to format the phone memory follow the instruction: switch off ur phn,then press the '*' nd '3' nd 'call recieve key',and then open ur phn by continue pressing those 3keys. after u see the time zone selecting display,stop pressing those 3 keys. see,ur format completed! :-D PLZ VOTE!

1) Switch off your phone 2) Press and hold these 3 keys together: -green dial key -the star key(*) -the number 3 key (Ugh, I wish I had three hands…!!) 3) Power on the phone Warning: Do not release the keys until you see a formatting screen and even after the phone has started. Wait until the initial sound starts to play and the hand animation is displayed.
Before formating make sure that your battery is fully charged. Copy all your important contacts, messages, calender, etc in your memory card and your phone should be fully charged

make sure that you copy all your important contacts, notes, calender etc in your memory card. your battery should be fully charged and remove memory card before formatting.
Please use another good fully charge battery to test it, if it gives the same problem get the phone to a Nokia care center or get a trustworthy phone technician to check it for you
Take your SIM card out. Make sure your phone battery is fully charged. Press* 3 sendat the same time and turn the phone on. Keep them pressed until the reset screen appears.
