Question about MyMusix PD-6030 MP3 Player

Dead MP3 Player?

I purchased this PD-6030 for my daughter for Christmas last year and it has suddenly stopped working. When accessing this player in My Computer it shows 0 bytes used 0 bytes free. When I choose to Format it tells me to insert a disk and try again. I wish there was a reset button somewhere or it would let me reformat because it worked great when we first got it and suddenly without warning............nothing........it became an expensive piece of decoration. Anyone have any solutions or advice?

MyMusix's PD-6030:
If you have a Windows-based computer,
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

If that fails,
Check the battery polarity. (+ and - must be in correct psoition)
Set the hold button to the unlock position.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes ,format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format
If that fails,
go to www.mymusix.com to see if the latest software update will correct the problem

MyMusix PD 6030 persistently displays flash error! please backup the data and format the player. This happened after I tried to replace an existing playlist with a new one.

I would recommend you do back up your files to the computer and then format the player.

Q: How do I format my PD-6030?
A: There are various way to format the PD-6030.
With Windows XP, go to Start, All Programs and select 'My Computer'. Then see if there is a device called an 'Audio Player' listed there. If so , open the Audio Player and right click the item named 'Internal Storage' and select 'Format'. Once the format is complete, unplug the player and turn it on. Once it turns on and says 'No Files' plug it back in to your PC and add the music back to the player.
With older version of Windows, the player will show up under 'My Computer' as a 'Removable Disk'. Right click that and select "format'.

My mp3 player wont turn on

This might be a tricky one to solve - may take more than one method.
Start by resetting the player. Then replugging it into the computer.
If it still fails:
Uninstall the PD-6030 via device manager. The PD-6030 needs to plugged in to do this. Go to Start, Control Panel and select 'Performance an Maintenance'. Then Select 'System'. Then select the 'Hardware Tab' and select 'Device Manager'. Then find a device called 'Portable Devices' or 'Windows Portable Device'. Then select the + sign next to the device and right click the 'Audio Player'. Select 'Uninstall'. Click 'OK' when it asks you if it is OK to uninstall. Then select 'Action' at the top of the Window and select 'Scan for hardware changes'. Then once it re-installs the driver, see it operates
correctly. Also, performing a firmware recovery procedure can work to make your computer recognize the PD-6030. Please follow the set of instructions titled, "Q: How to recover my player's firmware?".

The firmware upgrade can be found at www.mymusix.com
