It takes a little time, or it's in it's automatic backup mode and is already doing it's thing. Check your user's manual there may be other options you want to use.

Toshiba PX1524E-1HKO, flashing blue/red light

If you're seeing a combined blue and red light on your Toshiba PX1524E-1HKO laptop's hard drive, it means that there is a problem with the drive and it isn't being recognized by the computer. This could be due to a number of issues, such as a loose connection, damaged data cables, or a failed hard drive.

If you're hearing no sound coming from your hard drive, it's a pretty good indication that it isn't spinning. This could be due to a number of issues, such as a failed motor or a damaged data cable.
If you're not sure what the problem is, the best course of action is to take the laptop to a qualified technician or computer repair shop to have them take a look at it. They'll be able to diagnose the problem and let you know what needs to be done to fix it.
I hope this helps!

The blue light keeps flashing on and off on my Seagate 4Tb XHD. It won't show up on the finder as connected. What causes that?

follow these steps:
  1. Make sure the computer and external hard drive are powered on.
  2. Safely remove the drive from the computer (if possible).
  3. Disconnect the external drive's USB or FireWire cable.
  4. Disconnect the power supply plug from the external drive.
  5. Power off the computer.
  6. Disconnect the computer's power supply cord for 60 seconds.
  7. Reconnect the computer.
  8. Power on the computer.
  9. Connect the power supply to the external drive.
  10. Connect the drive's USB or FireWire cable and check for detection.
If that does not correct the behavior, and if the drive is also not detected by your computer, the blinking light is probably a symptom of a larger problem. If those steps do not return the drive to correct function, it is very possible, even probable, that the drive has failed and needs to be replaced

Bought a new network hard drive 1tb iomega. Operating system requirements is XP. Saleman said it would update on line & work with windows 7. doesnot happen for me . Is it compatible or not? CD will not...

The drive will not update itself automatically. You will have to download the firmware update and update it yourself. You may also want to get the latest Manager software that is Windows 7 compatible.

Firmware Version 2.064: https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iomega_na_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=21149

Blue light on Lacie Drive blinks.

Hello,

I have seen the power adapters go out on the Lacie external drives and that causes the light to flash. You can check the voltages coming out of the adapter with a multimeter if you have one available. The voltages should be 5 and 12 volts. If you don't get that then the adapter is bad, you can contact Lacie about a replacement adapter or get a generic case and swap your drive to it. If you need a replacement case I have a link to more information about the one we use inshop at www.ccl-la.com

I hope this helps, If so please rate my solution.

Gateway computer does not turn on

Without seeing the machine, I'm thinking you have a motherboard problem. But try these troubleshooting steps before throwing in the towell:
Open the case and disconnect the CD cable. Now try it. If it still doesn't work, disconnect the hard drive and try it.
Let me know what happens. I've seen CDs mess up a system like this. I many times will swap out the power supply, but I'm thinking with the lights flashing, its a more serious problem.

Blue light flashed on the portable hard drive for a couple seconds. How do I know if all files were transfered? Nothing on screen showed up? I have a HP laptop.

If your portable hard drive was set up as the "H" drive, go to My Computer (in Windows XP), or Computer (in VISTA), select your "H" drive and view your files (if there).
