Don't know what they are, but when cat and some dog food get wet, it is gruesome what grows! Mine grew pink small little worms. Try and either make your own dog/cat food or buy the top brands.also write to the manufacturer and if possible, send a picture. Better brands are more expensive for a reason - they are made from quality ingredients and don't grow ugly things when have been sitting. Throw out the dog's leftover moist food after each meal . If you leave food down for free choice eating, leave only dry food down.

Is it old? I would return it to the store if you have the receipt. It's probably grain mites, Grain Weevils. When you buy dry food that contains grain, put them in the freezer. This will kill all these creatures.

Is this cat for good for cats with renal failure
ABSOLUTELY NO DRY FOOD!!!! Can food only, add a little more water to get water in kitty. My kitty was pre-kidney and I took him off dry and put him on wet/can food and a year later, his check up it was gone. I didn't use any specific cat food for pre-kidney but since your kitty is already in renal failure find specific brands for this but WET WET WET CAN CAN CAN. He needs water. I tried giving my cat Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Renal LP Modifed Canned Cat Food, 3-oz but he didn't like it so he is on Wellness chicken sliced. I will be taking him in again to see his number. All of a sudden my cat won't touch this food. he is 5 years old, and has been eating it with no problem. He usually bolts it down with no problems, but now the food remains in his dish for days an
If he's been eating this food in the past, is it a new bag? Maybe it's not fresh or this bag tastes a bit off? If the Vet didn't have any suggestions, I'd consider returning the bag to the pet store, explaining the situation, and trying another brand. If it isn't a health thing it's a mental thing, so maybe try wet food for a while and then ease him into a different dry food to see if that breaks the mental block that seems to be occurring?
