Oster 4724 rice cooker stopped working, blown fuse

I have fixed these several times. That fuse is a thermal fuse and a new one can be bought at electronics parts stores (Radio Shack?). I just bypass them with a piece of wire but then you risk a fire if it overheats again.
Those fuses come in various temperature ratings, so get one that's higher than the one currently in it. Normally the lever should pop up when all the water has boiled, stopping the heating element before the thermal fuse blows, so you may have another problem. The lever is attached to a bi-metal spring that flexes when a certain temp is reached. It may be "tired".

Hi,
There is a sensor that regulates how hot the cooker gets and shuts it down to the warm setting when it senses that the heat is too high...meaning that all the water has cooked off....my guess is that the sensor failed and as far as I know it is not replaceable.

Here is a tip that I wrote about rice cookers and the amount of rice and water needed...

Can you boil in a slow cooker?

Generally, with enough heat and good insulation, water will boil. Boiling is caused by non-uniform heating - some spots are hotter.
My wife's slow cooker boils even on the low setting -slowly, but it boils.
Our rice cooker never used to boil until I burned tomato rice in it (OOPs). Don't make tomato rice in a rice cooker.

No instructions

Sorry this took so long. I had the same problem, but found that the white rice is measured by 3/4 cups then fill water to the corresponding line in cooker. I use three 3/4 cups of white rice and then fill cooker to the number 3 line. The rice must be in the cooker when the water is added. Good luck.
