When i turn my xboxon it says open tray it doesnt play the disks

The main problem might be a big problem with the disk tray. There might be an faulty wire that has lost connection and if your disk wont event turn on, there might be a problem with the power supply that supplies the cd tray. If the disk opens and closes but doesnt read and wont say tray is in and keeps saying open tray, there might be a small fracture on some of the wires or there is something wrong with the motherboard of the xbox 360. The best way is to buy the warrenty now and send it to the xbox 360.

I am sorry to tell you, but this occurs only when you have a faulty disk laser (the laser that is used to read the disks and play games).  Because the laser is broken, it can't read disks, and because it can't read disks, it can't tell whether or not you have even inserted a disk into the console, which is why it just says "Open Tray."  There are probably two possibilities as to what is wrong with the laser. 

• First, the laser is either completely defective;
• Second, the laser is off center, and not in the proper position it should be in.

Clean your disk tray and the cd. If that doesnt work try unplugging your xbox 360 for 30 mins. If all else fails send your Xbox to repairs.

this is because you used original disk`s from different areas. Try this:
1. Open tray and remove any disks in tray.
2. Close tray.
1. Switch Off Player and Unplug from mains wait 30 seconds (this clears RAM)
2. Reconnect to mains
3. Turn on player with remote.
4. Press ENTER on remote.
5. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9. Using keys on remote.
6. Press ENTER on remote. (The player will power off.)
7. Switch on power from remote.
8. Player is now Region Free.

GO TO THE INTERNET FOR YOUR MODEL/NAME.

You need a new laser. Thats the only fix

are u getting red lights round the power button??
if so send it back( the red ring ov death)

This hard disk is a easy fix, You can buy a new one for the fraction of the cost, All you have to do is slip this off the unit and apply an new or even a used hard drive. common xbox flaw mine does the same ,just keep opening and closeing the tray till it reads the disk,this can be very annoying .your dvd tray is probally on the way out

If you ever open the disk tray and then the power source is cut, the tray will try to ''autofix'' itself by making whatever state it was at the default position. This doesnt sound like whats going on for you, though.

If you can turn your 360 on and go to the main screen, try opening it with the ''open tray'' button on the bottom of the main screen.

If that fixes it, your problem is a faulty disk tray button.

If the tray still does that with the xbox main menu button, then its a mechanical thing with the tray.

Go to walmart and buy one of those air spray bottles (like an airsol can to clean dust out of PCs) and spray it into the 360 tray once it is opened. Aim the spray on the sides, what it sounds like is dust or something collected on the gears of the disc tray. If you have your 360 on carpet or a dusty surface this is probobly the problem.

Thats about the only thing you can do without opening the 360 up yourself (IF ITS STILL UNDER WARRANTY DONT OPEN IT) that will void the warranty. So if the airsol spray doesnt do it, then send it in to microsoft.
