A/C adapter overheats and monitor shuts off after 10 to 15 minutes of use. Green LED light on adapter also turns off. After unplugging adapter from a/c power cord, and allowaing time for the adapter to cool off, when the power cord is plugged back in the adapter LED is on, but overheats again when monitor is turned on. With monitor off, adapter does not overheat. Is my problem the monitor or the adapter?

I would bet the illumination lamp has reached the end of it's life (~$40 online). Should be easy to replace. Also possible the ventilation vents need cleaning, which could cause the lamp to overheat and turn off.
The green light should only blink if set has been unplugged---upon plugging it back it will blink for about 70 seconds and go out----this is the set booting up and is normal.
At that point you should be able to turn the set on-----what happens when you try?
There are a couple of things you can try. First let's make sure the battery has power. On the battery there is a little white button next to some LED lights. Press the button if you get no LED lights (they should be green) you have no power, if you get one fast blinking LED you have no power. Plug in your power suuply and make sure the green/orange light comes on on the adapter right where it attaches to the laptop. If you need to you can try a different power adapter if you can find on available from a friend or a store.
Assuming you have power we could try reseting the SMC. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to make sure the power on the laptop is off. Unplug the power cord and using a coin or key to turn the circular lock, remove the battery from the laptop.
Next with the battery out and the power unplugged press and hold the power button for 5 seconds then release.
Replace the battery and lock into place. Plug in the power cord. Wait 5 minutes and then try to power the laptop on with the power button again.
Hopefully this helps.
Try pairing the parent and nursery units again. First, turn off all of the units. Place the broken parent unit within 5 feet of the nursery unit. Turn on the parent unit. Turn on the nursery unit. Within a few seconds, the top 4 green LEDs should shut off. Then you'll hear a few beeps and the connection LED should turn from red to green. If this doesn't work, power off and try again using the AC adapters instead of battery power. I did it without plugging in the parent unit but the battery died as soon as the units paired up again. It's working fine from the docking station though.
Unplug, replug, push the popwer buton couples time, see if stable green LED light, should get tv pic& suond back, not replaced the backlight video board it some how die.
Hi...there,
Try replaced with a new AC Adapter. If it still the same...then you got a busted backlight inverter. To order a new AC Adapter go to this site @ www.3rd-rocks.com click on lcd parts. have a nice day!
It seems to me the LCD cable is either not properly unplugged or LCD ha gone bad.
Connect external monitor to the laptop and check if you have the Video on the external monior. If everything looks fine on external monitor then you can get the LCD replaced.
In case system does not power up and there are no indications of power.
Here are the steps:
Connect only the AC Adapter and take the battery out.
Check if you have a green led lit on the AC Adapter.
If AC Adapter does not has a green led please replace it with a known good AC Adapter.
If the AC Adapter has a green led but still no power it can be the system board which has gone bad.
