I'm assuming you mean Linux. Linux is a (generally free) Operating System, like Windows. It's basically the backbone of your PC. Linux is a more 'advanced' operating system, in that all of your Windows version programs won't work on there, unless you use something called WINE or there's a Linux version out for it. If you're a computer 'novice', you may not want to use Linux. If you do, several popular distributions (or 'distros') are Ubuntu, Fedora and openSUSE.
