If you want to replace the plastic cover there is a screw towards the front of the saw that must be removed and then the bolt at the back loosened and the guard will pull off. If you need more info get back to me with the other questions and I will try and help
Theres a nut on the guard you need to loosen. Guard will then open enough to change blade. if you want to remove it completely theres a phillips srew you also need to remove.
what spring? do you mean the one in the guard? if so you don;t have to remove it to change the blade, give me the exact model number or you can go to makitatools.com and download a breakdown that shows the reassembly of the guard, it is not that hard, and also you can download an owners manual that shows the proper blade replacement procedure.
Go to Makitatools.com and in the header type in your model number and just follow thru till you can download a parts breakdown with exploded view of the guard. Just lay parts out in the order you see them and its not hard to reassemble. Might I ask what happened to guard? If you stilll have problems let me know and I will help. If I have helped you with your request would you please rate this response accordingly. Thank you.
Go to Makitatools.com and on the right side type in your model number and it will take you to a page where you can get the manual or the breakdown. Let me know if I can help further, I work on them everyday/
