Hi,
In this situation, it is likely that the door has become misaligned due to the seatbelt being caught in it. You will need to have the door checked by a qualified mechanic or technician to determine the exact cause of the issue and make any necessary repairs. If the door cannot be opened manually, the technician may need to remove the door panel in order to access the internal components of the door and reset it. If the issue cannot be resolved, you may need to replace the door assembly.

Fixing a stuck latch on a car door. Video shows that the door won't close, how to release the latch, the ...
This has already been answered...Here's a copy Open the car door and pull on the release latch that you use to open the car door from the inside to get out. At the same time use a screwdriver to push up the latch on the side of the door. Sometimes the seatbelt gets caught on the door when you close it causing the latch on the side to close prematurely
lube the latch up... go to the passengers side and examine the latch... you could use a screwdriver and OPEN the latch on the drivers' door by pulling the door handle and prying the latch to the open possition... and try to close it ... repeate.

Drivers side door will not close because, it might have dropped out of alignment and is sagging down slightly!!! or if it has electric door locks, and someone in the family has failed to mention door locks were activated while that one door was still open!!! now lock mechanism has passed it's normal stopping place and is now stuck, therefore already locked and not allowing door to close all the way!! you might try disconnecting battery then try jiggling the lock, and hope silenoid didn't get burned out, open passenger door and look at lock latch, then check drivers side lock latch!!! if your lucky lock latch should unlock when battery is hooked back up. i have seen this problems happen often on older vehicles!!! especially on cars or trucks that have been in fender benders.........body shops know what to check for, they fix problems like this often!!!!! Good luck!!
child lock on should still let you open and close from the out side .
Make sure the door is unlocked and check to make sure the latch did not relatch it sef before shutting the door if it did take a screw driver and manualy open it by pulling the outer door handle and popping the latch back open with the screw driver. if this is not the case then most of theese problems can be fixed whith a can of WD-40 and just working the latch back and forth
go to your local parts store and buy a can of PB BLASTER lubricant then open each door and spray the latch assembley really good then close and open the door 10 to 15 times. do this with each door. the door ajar light switch is located in the door latch assembley and cannot be seen so soak the latch assembleys really good so lube reaches the switch. these switches sometimes get stuck but this usually frees up the switch
When the door was last Opened the latch must have caught on something and went to the Closed Position. Get a Pair of Pliers and on the Door Where the Latch is Pull it Back Down or Up whichever way that it goes. All makes are Different with This.
