Hunter ceiling fan w/ remote won't work

I have a 52" Hunter ceiling fan which works by remote control. The other night I was lying in bed when the light on the fan came on without my doing anything. I tried to use the remote control to turn it off, and it wouldn't do anything. The fan now will not do anything. The light stays on unless I turn off the power at the switch on the wall. I changed the battery on the remote but that hasn't helped. What can I do???

During a thunder storm the light went on without my using the remote. When I tried to turn on the fan, it would not work. Any suggestions?

Have 2 year old Hunter Ergonomic, with light and w/wall mounted remote. Until summer '08 worked fine. Light goes on in middle of night or day, fan starts randomly w/o light, or with light.

Electrical contractor who installed suggests that it is a frequency problem, perhaps another appliance is on same frequency, but nothing else goes on in middle of night.

We have had lightning knock out our garage door opener. Have not yet replaced battery, but read that new battery didn't solve similar problem w/ another Hunter owner.

Any suggestions for how to solve this nuisance, waste of power problem
    would be greatly appreciated.

Hunter Ceiling fan. Its only hooked up to the remote (no switch). Power went out in a T-storm and now the remote won't work anything. The box up in the housing doesn't respond (used to make that clicking noise).

You need to change the receiver inside the fan. It is located in the top canopy of the fan. you don't have to buy a new remote just the receiver to save money and match the dip switches to the remote.

I have a hunter ceiling fan; constant problems. Sometimes the remote works, sometimes it doesn't...sometimes it goes on in the middle of the night, sometimes is won't turn off unless I completely secure power at the circuit breaker panel. I'd like to float test it in the ocean. Second Choice would be to get a sledgehammer. Worst fan in the world---came with the house.

The light works but the fan won't work

Was it an add-on light? If so, pull the light switch once and try the remote again. If not, you probably need a new receiver.

My control won't activate the light on my Hunter fan. The light comes on via pull chain fine, and the control works the 3 speeds on the fan, but the light won't respond.

Check the wiring on your receiver to make sure the light wire is connected. You have to have the light on with the pull chain and then use the remote to turn it on/off.
