plugging in a new graphics card should not need any bios alteration as the mother board reads it immediately
At the most you may have to install the driver for it
hook monitor cable back to your onboard video port then 1st make sure you have already downloaded the driver for your new graphics card. then at start up go into system setup and go to your display and make sure that you have your new graphics card enabled as your primary graphics instead of onboard video. it will say something like 1.Onboard 2. AGP/OR PCI MAKE SURE YOU DONT HAVE YOUR ONBOARD ENABLED AS YOUR PRIMARY VIDEO. AFTER THAT JUST SAVE AND EXIT THE JUST HOLD POWER BUTTON DOWN TILL PC SHUTS DOWN THEN SWITCH YOUR CABLE MONITOR CABLE FROM THE ONBOARD TO THE AGP/PCI CARD THEN RESTART YOUR PC. THEN YOUR PC WILL SAY FOUND NEW DATA AND WILL INSTALL THE DRIVER YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED FOR IT THEN YOU SHOULD BE OK IF THE CARD IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE MOTHERBOARD
First of all that motherboard is too weak to fully use that video card, you could get the same framerate in games using a video card 2 generations older.
Proper way of installing a new card: 1. uninstall the driver of the old one and reboot in BIOS - in there put all settings to auto; 2. shutdown the pc and install the new card; connect the monitor to it; 3. boot into BIOS, disable the onboard video card and reboot; 4. boot normally and install the driver.
In that way no need to change the BIOS settings, you can install a new graphics card directly. Once you are already installed the new graphics card you need to install also the driver so that it will work properly. Connect your monitor cord to the new installed graphics card. Now you can enjoy using your computer with the new installed graphics card.
Drivers most likely, remove the card and use the onboard or some other card that works. Then boot into windows and install the drivers for the new card, then power off, install the card in question and reboot and then try.
The chances are that you have an old motherboard which is not compatable with the new graphic card. Or you may be running windows 98 and are downloading the driver for xp or visa versa. The probable solution, will be to sell the new card on ebay and buy the best old card you can off ebay. Or just make do with the card you already had in your computer. If you are determined to have a better graphics card. A motherboard upgrade with better graphic card may be the best answer or buy a better spec pc second hand if you don't have much money. You'll probably waiste a lot of time trying to get the new card to work and it probably never will.
