One of two things I can suggest:

1. make sure you are not scanning in JPEG or TIFF format as these are typically single page documents only. PDF is your best option for scanning.

2. Check settings, as some scanning software has an option that you can turn on or off depending on whether you want a single file with all pages or multiple files each containing a page.

Testimonial: "Hi Mark, thank you for your reply. When I go into settings, the only options I have are JPEG, TIF,BMP OR PMG...PDF is not an option. Maybe the Canon MP180 simply can't do multiple scan pages and make them one document?"

I have a MP240. Can this printer scan multiple pages and make it into one document? If so, how? If not, then I'll persevere with emailing separate pages...grrr

Not sure ?
try if it has a top document feeder and then scan to a p.c if it has this option ?
otherwise
scan each document to seperate files and then insert each file into a word document using ms word select insert , picture from file (try holding CRTL to select multiple files at once with mouse click)
Then save word document and attach word document and send

When scanning on this machine, each page comes out as a seperate picture. I need to know how to make it scan as 1 document with multiple pages.

Your scanner is probably now saving the document as a tiff or jpeg which can only be single pages. You need to adjust your software so that your scans are saved as a PDF. As you provide no details on your system, I cannot tell you how, just check the settings, file type will be there somewhere. It might even give you the option for file type after the scan before it is saved.

My Epson CX3810 all-in-one priner does not allow me to scan mulitiple document into one file. Each page is scanned as a seperate document.

The documentation is here: http://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/cx38__/cx38__ug/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm

You can scan multiple pages of a document on the document table and save them as one PDF file on your computer. Epson Scan displays an editing page so you can view the pages as you scan them and reorder, rotate, or delete them as necessary.

Select PDF as the file type setting.

When prompted "scanning complete.  Do you want to continue"  Click "add page"

Can't save multiple page scan to multiple page pdf document

that should be because you scanned the pages separately, did you notice if the PDF document converted was the very last page of the 13paged document which you wanted to make a document from? if that's right, then you just only converted the last scanned page into PDF, to stick all the pages together, i recoment you treating them as images and using word to stick them all together with the "insert>image> from archive" adjusting the size of the image at 1 page and with each 13 pages do the same until you have a full document of 13 images in 13 pages then you can convert it into PDF

I am using an HP Officejet Pro L7680 all in one. I am trying to scan multiple pages into one document. The list offered by my HP Solution Center for saving scanned documents is .jpg .tif etc. but each...

Well once you have digitized all the documents can they all be converted to PDF?
THen all you need to do is to make sure the titles are in numeric order as page 1 - whatever
Adobe PDF acrobat professional lets you place them all into one doc.
On the left open page options at the top of this menu you can insert after of befor all the rest of the docs just open the lead doc and then add pages to thea you will build a book

Touble scanning more that one page as a document

If you are scanning using the Scan to PC button, the unit will scan as you described. In order to scan multiple pages into one document, you need to go go through the Smarthru software, or whatever scanning software your unit includes. Since your unit is manufactured by Xerox, you can go to www.samsung.com and download the SmartThru software of your choice for free.
