It prints MS Word files fine, but when I have it print a .pdf file, it tells me that the printer is offline. It won't do it unless I somehow copy the file onto a MS Word docx document and then print it.
You need to go to the PDF file Open it in Adobe which has a print function.

check printer status. make sure it is defalt. Did you "save" something in PDF instead of printing? And now you want to print it? So it stays in PDF "save" mode until you change it back to default printer. I recently had to learn that.
I only have one multifunction printer, so it's the default printer. Both the original document and the saved document are adobe .pdf files, and it really doesn't want to print -- keeps saying that the printer is offline. It's not offline, because after I delete the document from the queue, I can print an MS Word file without rebooting either the computer or the printer, and without installing any new drivers.

The pdf print box has save or print option. If it stays in the Pdf mode it will not comunicate with the printer.
