Washing machine 11 years old is jumping on the wash cycles. EG instead of taking 25 mins its taking 10 mins to complete -clothes coming out wet unless manually turn to spin again

It is possible that the program is not running to the designed settings and so the program seems to skip the cycle.
The clothes come out wet because the spin cycle is not activated in the set program. Hence the program controller needs a check.

Hi, I've got a hotpoint WF000G which wont rinse properly on a fast wash, still soap suds on the clothing and have to put it on a full rinse cycle to get rid of them. Have tried clearing the filter (which...

Use very little detergent (HE) on a fast wash, about half the amount you usually do and set the machine to heavy instead of nomal, if yours has the settings for water level. The heavy setting uses more water. If your model does not have the normal/heavy settings, wash only very small loads on the fast cycle so that there is more water for the cycle. Also, be sure you are rinsing in cold, since cold water dispurses suds. You should also be sure that your rubber seal is very clean. I use a cloth and plain hot water and clean the seal weekly. It can build up alot of detergent residue as well as mold, etc.

I clean the door seal on my hoover washing machine every time I use it but I keep getting grime marks on the clothes.I have tried powder & liquid detergents nohing makes any difference. I have done...

sounds as though your machine is plumbed incorrectly, the height of the waste hose end when fitted into stand pipe should not be lower than 4/5 inches from top of washer, this is to prevent syphoning which will leave suds grime etc and also cause blotching on whites

Black type residue being left on clothes

Hi there,

This is a common problem on washing machines, if you predominantly do cold washes.

Over a period of time, a washing machine will accumulate a buildup of Soap Scum (excess soap & softener residue) which can stick to the inside of the drum.

This black coloured soap scum occasionally breaks away from the drum, and attaches to the clothing fabric during the wash cycle.

You can rectify this, by doing the following:

Firstly, purchase a packet of CITRIC ACID from your local grocery store (usually found in the baking isle).

Do the following procedure before going to bed:

1) Do a HOT WASH without clothes (Hi water level, with HOT water) - allow machine to fill with hot water, then add the CITRIC ACID to the water. Allow the machine to complete a FULL wash cycle (i.e. allow machine to agitate for 30 mins or so, then drain).

2) Fill the machine again with the HOT water / CITRIC ACID solution, but this time allow it to sit in the bowl overnight (no cycle).

3) Next morning, set machine to spin & drain (i.e. to empty the solution)

4) Set machine to fill with FRESH HOT WATER ONLY (no citric acid), then set machine to spin & drain. This will flush all remaining residue left in the bowl.

Note: Soap scum residue is caused by using excess detergent/fabric softener. Hot Water flushing should be done every 6 months.

Contrary to what the detergent manufacturers state, you should follow Samsung's instructions by using HALF the recommended detergent.

Samsung machines prefer LOW SUDS, and you may find by reducing the amount of detergent used, you may even eliminate the buildup of soap scum.

Cleaning washing machine filter

There is no filter on this machine. The gray gooey substance is sludge (dirt) build up inside the tub. This can be caused from using too much detergent or a detergent that is not HE (high efficiency).
You can try running an empty cycle using the hottest water available with products such as "washer fresh", "affresh" or a cup of bleach to remove the build up.
Remember to use a HE detergent and you only need about 2 tablespoons per regular load.
Good luck!

6 years old hoover washer dryer. Not all, but some light colored tee shirts coming out with what appears to be oily spots. Tried bleach and dishwater tablet as suggested by another forum, but to no avail....

Hi there monobloc,

I've gone through this too. Dishwashing liquid soap, specifically with grease cutting properties. It does take a few cycles to clean it all out though.

Forgot how to use

Doing a Load of Wash for Portable/ Kitchen Faucet
1) Make sure machine is set to Cold/Cold and never use Hot/Cold button (Hot/Cold is only for permanent hook-ups). Connect water hose to kitchen faucet. Turn on water to temperature of choice.

2) Load machine half to three-fourths full of clothes. (only half full is recommended if you intend to use the dry cycle right after the wash cycle. For half loads, push in the half-load button. )

3) Add detergent and fabric softener:
a. Liquid detergent into 2nd slot: only 1 tablespoon, 2 tablespoons maximum
b. Fabric softener into 3rd slot. this really helps in preventing wrinkles
(****NOTE: THE MOST COMMON AND MOST DAMAGING ERROR IN THE USE OF FRONT-LOADING MACHINES IS OVERSOAPING. oversoaping causes - pump failure, drain failure, etc. - none of
which are covered by the warranty. The only reason top
loaders use so much soap is because they use so much water and this dilutes the soap. Also, always use detergents that have an HE -- High Efficiency -- rating.)

4) Select Wash Cycle
Permanent Press is likely to be fine (32 minutes) as the USA has softer water than in Europe for which machine was originally designed. Hard water, as in Europe, means it requires more detergent and more washing motion than in the USA. Prewash and/or Superwash (53 minutes) might be preferred for dirtier clothes.

5) Select Spin Cycle
600 should be fine. A higher cycle means dryer clothes, perhaps more wrinkles, and certainly more noise. (Malber USA suggests 800-900 as the norm).

6) Make sure Spin cycle has cold water.
Faucet should be changed to cold water AFTER the initial fill even if you are not drying - all rinses should be in cold water for more complete removal of soap residue

If you use Dry Cycle
7) Select time for desired dry cycle. Make sure to change the faucet to cold water. If you do not want to use Dry cycle, select 0 minutes. Otherwise, use 120 minutes the first time until you can gauge what types of loads require how much drying time. Here's how the Dryer works: A heating element inside the washer heats up the load. During the dry cycle, as the cold water from the faucet circulates into the machine (in tubes, not mixed in with the load), it cools the steam and condenses it into liquid water which is pumped out.

After Wash & Dry
8) It takes approximately 90 seconds after the cycles are completely done before it allows you to open the door. Malber USA says it is due to safety requirement of UL. Who knows what UL security feature is for. Perhaps extra time to finish draining.

9) door slightly ajar to let the machine dry out. I have read postings that say the machine becomes smelly with mildew if you do not. Malber USA says this is true for all horizontal axis (front-loading) washers.

Most common complaints
1) Using too much detergent.
Front loader machines do not need so much water, and thus not so much detergent. Also USA water is softer than European water, for which the machine was originally designed, and that may explain why the detergent compartment is so big to hold more detergent. Soft water is easier to get suds. Damage is caused by suds. Suds migrate up the hot air duct during wash cycle and come to rest on the heating element. After repeated occurrences, suds (which are corrosive) will cause rusting and eventual failure of the heating element.

2) Dryer does not work, for several main reasons:
(thanks to Malber USA for points a and b)

a) the system may have overheated, tripping the safety thermal switch. This switch is located under the top of the machine and can be easily fixed by the consumer.

b) broken working thermostat. It is a relatively inexpensive repair to remove and replace this part and takes only about 10 minutes. It can be done by the consumer but it
is recommended that a qualified tech do the job.

c) Machine is too full and/or fabrics are too heavy.
Even though you can wash a maximum load of 11 lbs. of clothes, the manual suggests to dry no more than 7 lbs. of cotton clothes and 5 lbs. of heavy or extra large fabrics. Thats because the dryer works by heating up the clothes and then condensing the steam from the circulating air into liquid water which is pumped out. If the machine is filled too much or if the fabrics are too dense (e.g., jeans), the system cannot condense enough water and the clothes remain humid. Perhaps a second 2 hour dry cycle could work, but who wants to dry clothes for 4 hours.

d) Broken heating element
Seems that the heating element breaks after 2-3 years and needs to be replaced. And why is that? Most common reason for heating element failure is oversoaping. Suds migrate up the hot air duct during wash cycle and come to rest on the heating element. After repeated occurrences, suds (which are corrosive) will cause rusting and eventual failure of the heating element. But many people simply choose to not use the dryer rather than have it fixed.
Hope this works. Please be sure to rate me. thanks

This code keeps coming up on my washer

Thanks, wilbur 24 for the input.

If this is a Suds error, then you will need to run the washer on a Rinse & Spin cycle with no detergent added to get rid of any excess soap. NOTE: You may have to repeat this cycle several times in order to clear the error.

Are you currently using HE detergent? If not, it is strongly recommended that you do. HE rated washers are supposed to use HE detergents because they are formulated for wash tubs that only use 5-7 gallons of water (like yours). If you use regular detergents you are, in affect, adding a higher concentration of soap that is formulated for wash tubs that have a 35 gallon capacity. This can cause damage to the tub and pump seals. Most manufacturers now have a disclaimer that states that the warranty becomes null and void if it is doscovered that you have used the wrong detergent.

In addition, some HE detergents are DOUBLE-CONCENTRATED, which means you only use HALF the amount you normally use. Make sure you read the label carefully to ensure you aren't inadvertently adding too much detergent.

Some other things that can cause over-sudsing include washing too little clothing with too much soap and soft water. Its best to wash full loads with front loaders as they are rated for large capacities. Cut back on the amount of detergent when washing smaller loads. Soft water can make detergents work better and create excessive suds. Try using less detergent.

I hope I don't insult your intelligence. I'm just trying to give you some sound advice in the event that you are not aware of some of the common causes of this problem. I hope this helps you.
