Richmond powervent model 6G40PV-40F Lockout 4-2 blink. What's wrong. What do I replace to fix?

1) Rheem-Richmond does not post service manuals:
Copy following link to identify service manual by type of gas control valve:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-gas-water-heater.html#intellivent

2) For lockout, the air intake might be clogged or combustion parts dirty, causing overheating which will break TRD glass vial. Gas control may need to be replaced. Reset gas control by rotating knob to lowest temp for at least 6 seconds.

3) Call Rheem or local service tech.

I have a richmond power vent water heater model number 6G40POW-40F.It will run for 2 min then shut itself off then restart and do the same thing all over. Then 2 lights come on and it wont run. Any help...

Fastest way to solve water heater problem is call plumber or service technician.

Open following link for typical error codes for intellivent gas valve found on newer Richmond/Rhemm power-vent gas water heaters:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Intelli-vent-gas-valve2.pdf
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Intellivent-service-manual.pdf

There is no 100% sure way for novice to repair gas water heater.
This is because electrical parts have to ohm-tested using information from service manual that is typically not sent with new water heater.
Also parts have to be cleaned. The gas pressure checked, air in gas line removed, burner tubes and pilot tube and combustion chamber cleaned, burner parts inspected for problems, air intake cleaned, exhaust vent tested.

Best way for do-it-yourselfer to solve water heater problems is to learn as much as possible about specific model by reading product manual that comes with new heater.
The manual will show error codes.
Then keep up with yearly service recommendations shown in manual.

Hi i have a power vent water heater model #-6g40pvw-40f. It go's into lock down mowed one light lit on vaction two more on A-and B is it the heating element or lighter mechanison thank you mike from...

Hello Mike,
Check gas pressure, burner parts need to be cleaned, check electrical outlet, hot surface igniter is bad

White Rodgers intellivent error code:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-adjust-water-heater-temperature.html#Intellivent
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Intelli-vent-gas-valve2.pdf

Error code says: system in lockout, but you know that.
1) Low gas pressure, no gas to water heater: call gas company to check pressure
2) Hot surface igniter not positioned correctly: inspect and clean burner parts.
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Reliance-hot-surface-ignite.jpg
3) Low voltage to water heater/ outlet has wrong polarity: Use circuit analyzer on electrical outlet to make sure polarity is correct

Typical power vent manual:
