I have chef EGC651S oven with separate grill. On fan assist oven only heats up to a certaain temp and doesnt get any hotter what could be the reason for this

The bake element has gone bad. They can visually look fine but still be bad. To check and replace that element you will unfortunately need to kill the power and remove it from the wall. Remove the back cover. Check for a low resistance (around 16 ohms) across the bake element. If the resistance is high the element is bad. Google the make and model for a replacement element.

The 3 knobs each have 6 positions corresponding to clock-face positions 2,4,5,7,8,10 o'clock.

Left - Grill Temperature 1-6. (Note Oven Temp needs to also be turned on before grill will work.)

Centre - Function
1 - Lamp
2 - Defrost (fan only)
3 - Fan Assisted Oven
4 - Grill
5 - Grill with Fan
6 - Fan & Bottom Element

Right - Oven Temp 50,100,150,200,250,Max (celsius)

The fan radiates the heat to the food to be cooked in the steady heat . when the heat is modest the fan does the convecction well to keep all the areas well heated.
So use only the required heat and the best timing

You to check the element with a meter to ensure if you are getting a sapply to it, if you are, then the new element is faulty, if no supply, then probably ythe thermostat is faulty, also check for broken or bad conn ections.

it seems to me that it is a fan oven and the top element won't heat up you need a new fan oven element. it is a round element that sits behind the back grill surrounding the fan...

if the temp light or indicator light for the grill is on then i'm tempted to say that it is the element but checking for resistance is the only sure way to know..

possibility is that the wire that link the oven element and that of grill is loose or burnt
