Question about Ovens

1 Answer

I have a parmco ar900leg gas stove with a multi function oven power. Its been cooking a treat for the last six months when we bought it. was installed by a gasfitter and correctly. Now, the bottom element is not working. to use the fan assisted baking mode nothing works except for the light and fans. No heat is generated. Put it on fan/grill it works perfectly. can you help?

U say element not working? so its a gas and electric? If so check the element with a multi meter for continuity. I would say check ur gas safety valve also but u say it does work in grill?

SOURCE: Fan oven element

The test is fairly straight forward: Make sure the unit is off. Generally, there is a screw which holds the element in place near the connector. Remove it and the element will slide out. Now, use a resistance (Ohm) meter and measure the resistance across the terminals. If the unit is visibly damaged or you get no reading (use the 1 K ohm scale), change out the element. If the unit tests good, suspect the control or the wiring from the control to the element.

SOURCE: oven no heat

for king louie
fault is the circular element round the fan. take off the back plate inside the oven and you can often see the damage but not always. to get at the terminals, remove the rear cover and test for continuity across the element with a multimeter - remove any connections before doing this and note down where they go
for tarzantony.
i can't remember where the cutout is but probably on top of the oven or close to the fan on bthe back. just trace the wiring from the element and it should lead you to it

I have a similar problem with my Zanussi and discovered there is a seperate element arounfd the fan wihich I think may be burnt out. Could be a similar fault have you investigated behind the panels in side the oven?

SOURCE: not heating in fan forced mode

Possibly your fan element has blown. Try and take the cover off that coves the fan inside the oven itself and use a torch to look at the element to see if it looks out of shape etc.

Bake, broil & clean buttons do not function, all others (timer, cook time, end time, clock) work fine. Therefore I cannot light the oven. The stove burners work fine.

check the main power terminal block and make sure the power is correct.if the power is correct then you will need to change the main control ever unplug the unit and check all the wiring to the control board and the bake and broil elements.if the unit is gas then you may need to replace the ignitor unit if it does not draw enough power during the light up it will not open the gas valve.replace the main main control board still applies if the other items check out fine.

I have a gas oven whirlpool sf3020ekq2 buners work but oven won't

Sounding like your hot surface ignitor is getting bad. What I would like for you to do is open the oven and take the bottom panel off. This is so you can see the hot surface ignitor. Turn the oven on and look at the hot surface ignitor it is down on the bottom right next to the burner assembly. Does it start to glow and turn cherry red? This ignitor isn't too hard to replace couple of small screws and two wires. Will have to cut the wires so disconnect the unit from the 120 volt plug. Now if it starts to glow and get cherry red hot then the gas valve is sticking and it is the one going bad. That is a little tougher to replace. Turn the gas off at the source and get your wrenches unscrew the gas valve small space so if you want remove the door by just pulling it off the hinges.

If unit is old and you don't like it anyway maybe santa would be good to you and replace the stove oven. The gas valve is about 60 bucks or so and hot surface is about 20 bucks. let me know how it turns out.. ken
