I have a van and the cd will only seay sefe
I take it you mean the cd player display is indicating "SAFE". This usually happens if the battery is disconnected to eather service something electrical on the vehicle or if the battery is being replaced. It's a burglar proof feature built into the player which is supposed to prevent thieves from reselling a stereo unit after stealing it by going into safe mode when it's power is interrupted thereby making the cd unit unable to be resold as it will not work. But it may be reset and placed back into serviceable mode by taking it to your dealership. They can reset the safe feature for you. Just ask them disable the feature in the player so it will not go back into "safe" if you have the battery disconnected again, but remember it will not be burglar proof anymore. Otherwise, to prevent it from going back into "safe" mode if you need to disconnect the power, then I suggest you get yourself a memory saver unit and attach the 9 volt battery and plug it into your cigarette lighter plug or the 12 volt power source on your dash before you disconnect the battery. That way, the power will not be interrupted to again set the "safe" back on.
Good Luck.
