Are you using Sharp original toner or after market?

Is the light the "billard ball" one and is it on solid or blinking

Is the drum light on also?

What is the page count on this machine

"clear, density select, clear, density select, dilpay blinks 00 then use arrows for up, zoom for down, to put in 22, press copy then arrow in 05, press copy.. result will be 3x 2 digits repeaed, clear to exit to start of service mode

what is the drum count?, same as above but 12 instead of 05 for second lot of entry

TRy doing clear density, clear density, then 10 copy, can you hear toner motor turning for 30secs?

Dont play in service mode you can damage machine if wrong stuff is put in;)


(clear then clear again to exit all the way out of service mode)

Is it the density or is the problem the transfer roller.....If its the density go into the menus and select print quality and scroll down to the density and lower the setting. If its the transfer roller, you'll need a new one. Make sure the plastic is all removed from the toner...it sounds like you might have left the plastic strip on the toner.

New cartridge means that the transfer corona is probably going out (or the controller board is sending wrong voltage) because it charges the paper to pull the toner off of the EP drum. This might be replaceable but you have to check with HP about buying one. I did not find them for sale on line but some models have them for about $25.

This Machine needs a copy cartridge. Replacing the toner will not clear it. The copy cartridge is the drum unit which is why the drum light is on. With the new copy cartridge a chip on the cartridge will reset the counter and clear the "CC" and the drum light. If you cant find this I can send you one. I believe on this model it is user replaceable.
