SOURCE: moen single handle valve tub/shower

The Moen Posi-Temp Valve is a pressure balanced valve and when not used for long periods of time they can stick causing only cold or hot water to pass through the valve.
A New Posi-temp cartridges can be purchased at most plumbing supply houses or big box outlets such as Lowes or Home Depot.
As long as you had cold water before, a new cartridge will solve the problem. In the future it would be wise to occassionally operate the valve at least a couple of times a month in order to keep the pressure assembly from becoming lodged in position. Just follow the instructions included with the new cartridge on the proper removal of the old cartridge and the installation of the new cartridge. a little silicone grease inside of the valve before installing the new cartridge will also help.
Be sure that there is no particles of the old cartridge left in the valve.

SOURCE: Kohler 30 year old single handle shower valve - cold water only

Is this a dual handle or single handle? if it is a single handle
turn the valve 180 degree. if not, then check the cold water supply line.

SOURCE: waters hot instead of cold when you turn it on

You have to remove cartridge and rotate 180 degrees then re-install. Was it removed or replace lately?

SOURCE: no cold water from Moen 2253 tub/shower valve,

Here is a quick check to see if the cartridge may be at fault allowing the cold and hot to mix. Turn off the hot water supply, with hot water supply off turn faucet on. Turn to the hot and cold sides, If you have only cold water then your faucet cartridge is at fault or the cartridge housing is worn. Shut all supply valves and remove cartridge and inspect housing for signs of wear. If wear is visible a new shower valve is needes. If none visible replace cartridge. I have included a link of a PDF file an exploded parts list. I hope this helps in solving your problem. Please rate if the answer helps in any way. Good Luck and have a great week. Jeff

Tub tab vibrates internally when hot water is turned on and off

You have a partially plugged filter screen the the internal cartage.
Another possibility is that the water piping was not provided with air chambers and the piping is vibrating.

Moen shower valve turns on full to cold water but flow becomes minimal when valve is turned to warm/hot. not getting enough warm water to shower. can this be fixed without rplacing the valve?

yes and no. Find hot water heater and insure cold water supply valve is open all the way. check to see if there is a hot water supply value and that its open all the way. If you replace shower value over iron pipe on the hot side it is corroded up replace pipe and value. If copper, find hot side, find value and open it up.

Replaced my Moen cartridge, finally got the leaking to stop, but now have no hot water no matter which direction the single handle is positioned

Turn on hot water supply

ok to easy but maybe

take valve cartridge out of valve It may be put in 180 degrees out

compare cold side inlet to warm side inlet: spring, little black gaskit/s seal maybe a ball/s

The cold side works right

Moen and all shower valve manufacturers follow american federal guidelines. Hold the unit in your hand with the handle facing you - the left side is the hot water inlet and the right side is the cold water inlet.

Moen Single Handle Shower Faucet-turn on get cold, little hot

You can try to rotate the first plastic ring to the left of center a few teeth, this will let the handle advance alittle more to the hot side.

Replaced a moen cartidge and now the water is not hot in shower

make sure when you turn on the hot and cold shut off valves all the way and turn the moen on after that. Some times I would get that problem if I turned one(either hot or cold) off then tried the shower.
