Double click the Home button to see if it's running.
Try charging the battery for at least 8 hrs.

"Learn what to do if your iPad Pro doesn't respond when you press buttons or tap on the screen, and the screen is black," Apple's message reads. "To get back to using your iPad Pro, force restart it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo."
Hi Tracy..., last month my ipad got black screen also, all i have to do is.. I open it
slowly and carefully pull-up the touch screen, then i remove the LCD and at the back of LCD you can see the black plastic cover, carefully remove it,then when finish removing it, at left side there is flix ...that is the connection of backlights...
if you see that is broken that causes you the ipad turn black screen, all you need is to get a soldering iron and a lead then fix that 9 connections of flix one by one ..and after that, all parts that you remove return it carefully and restart your ipad..and you have your ipad now back to normal
Try reseting the iPad by holding the home and power buttons simultaneously until the iPad completely shuts down and the Apple logo appears.
Once the Apple logo appears you can release the buttons. If this does not work, you may need to connect your iPad to your computer and do a factory restore using iTunes.
