My Amana gas range's oven door will not stay shut. It is not snug against the oven. Repair says I need new hinges. Are they easy to replace?

Removing or Reseating Oven Door To remove most oven doors:

1. Open door to the BROIL POSITION, where you feel hinge catch slightly.
2. Place your hands on both sides of the door near the handle.
3. Lift the door up and away from hinges.
4. If the door does not readily lift off, there may be 2 phillips head screws on the inside of the door down near the hinges that are holding it on.

To replace the door:

1. Place your hands on both sides of the door near the handle.
2. Resting door against knee, line up door with hinges and slip into place.

Door Hinge

An oven door repair may be needed if the door hinge breaks or is bent out of shape. Oven doors have two door hinges, a left and right. On some ovens the same hinge is used, on other ovens the right hinge and left hinge have different part numbers. The door hinge sometimes is sold with all necessary parts and springs, other times the parts need to be ordered separately. An oven door repair for a door hinge is a relatively easy repair for a do-it-yourselfer.

Outer Door Glass

If the outer door glass is broken, it can be replaced. This oven door repair requires that the oven door be removed from the oven and layed down on a sturdy flat surface. The outer door glass is made of tempered glass. Use eye and hand protection when performing this oven door repair.

With a hammer, carefully flatten the areas of the door on both sides where it is sprung outward. I then drove self tapping screws into the side panels of the door just above where the bulge formed.
This formed a bond between the outside panel of the door and the inside panel.

There is alot of unit that I personally repaired for the same problem. I designed a quick fix for it without changes the hinges. It is a little bit technical. The door has to be to took apart and in will need three washers on both sides of the hinge. this will be a $1.00 do it yourself fix if you dont have any coverage.nyc appliance repair can fix it for you.

Pull up on the door to remove it from the hinges.
Remove the pan drawer on the bottom. Remove the spring from the hinge to be replaced. Remove the hinge mounting screws. Remove the hinge.
Reverse this process to install the new hinge.

Place a hammer handle between the hinge and the door frame. Exert moderate pressure to close the door. It should spring back to normal position. Do both sides.

twist a tesher like a roll and put it betwing the door and the frame of stove then close the door gently to bring back the hinges to position.

The same thing is happening with my oven. I have found a web page which sells the parts and removing the door and replacing the hinge would be easy enough. The design of the door however, may mean the problem just happens again.
