Are you sure you have power at the outlet? If not check your circut breaker box. You may have a GFI circut. The GFI outlets are very sensitive. They have reset button and test button. If other "non GFI" outlets are on the same cirute they are affected by the GFI outlet. The GFI outlets do fail at times, and need to be replaced. Have you had recent power outage? Sometimes our "smart devices" are too smart.
If you have power, I'd unplug for a few hours and see if that might reset it's "brain" If that doesn't help you may have a panel problem. Owner's manual? Check troubleshooting section. Warranty?, pursue that. Age of microwave? Consider the cost of repair vs. finding a lightly used "working" microwave.

The microwave is not heating the food.

When it did heat food before and you used the same settings now, the microwave must be defect.
But before you are sure, put a cup with water in the micro and try to heat that.
Dry food can't be heated in a microwave. There must be some moist in the food if you want to heat it in the microwave.

Microwave has stopped heating, yet grill and convection oven still work.

A model number would have helped, but I can give you a generic answer.
It may be a bad door switch or mount.
(Anybody in the home opening the door while it's cooking?)
See our help file on door switches here.

Not heating

Hello

Power Supply

Check whether there is a proper power supply. Look to see whether the cord is connected to a grounded 3-prong outlet and the cord is fully plugged in. If the electrical system is built-in and no power cord is visible, replace or reset the household fuse or circuit breaker.

Microwave Functions

Some basic microwave operational steps may affect whether the microwave is heating. Open and close the microwave door, as the unit will not function with the door open, and push "Stop/Clear" to cancel any previous settings, such as the timer, which do not heat the microwave oven.

Setting the Microwave

Once the power to the microwave has been reset, or verified as working, and the microwave is ready to run, select a new cook cycle and press "Start" to see if the microwave begins to run and cook food as expected. Allow the food to cook for the alloted time and then open the microwave door and check to see if the food has cooked or heated. Choose a longer cooking time and restart the microwave if food is heating but is cooking slowly.

Repair

If all efforts to troubleshoot the function and power to the microwave still do not get the appliance heating food as expected, there may be a repair issue that needs to be addressed. Contact professional technician for advice.

My space saver microwave will not heat anything yet everything else works.

i found on my micro setting if i accidentally set it up for convection, it stays that way and therefore just heats slowly when I think i'm microwaving. i have to re set it after i use convection or it defaults to that and therefore will not heat / microwave.

Doesnt heat up

in a microwave, there is no heating element. There are microwaves that heat up the water molecules, they make them spin fast and that's what heats things up. Running it with nothing in it, you really can tell if it's not working by that test either, again, nothing to heat up. I would put in a cup of water, set on high for 3 minutes and it should boil, if not, get a new one for the price, why mess around?

We have just purchased a GE microwave oven, model JES1358WL. the light is on, the turntable turning, the control panel shows cooking and seconds counting down when attempting to heat cup of water. it is...

First: never attempt heating pure water in a microwave, that is dangerous.

Ensure the oven is not set to the minimum power, otherwise the heating will be minimal.

Try heating some food at maximum power for two or three minutes, if it does not heat, take it back to the shop.
