If it runs slow, there are a couple of things that cause that. The usual one is that the blades haven't been oiled. The tolerances are very tight between them. You can buy 'shredder oil', or you can use any LIGHT machine oil, 3 in 1 Garage Door Spray is ideal. Spray liberally from the underside
Take the head apart and you will see the electric motor, spray the bearings both ends. All of the cogs should be covered in grease, add some more, or spread around the surplus over the gear teeth.
There should be a fan attached to the motor, make sure it spins and all the blades are on it.
Finally, make sure the vents are free of obstruction.
It is only a light duty, 6 sheet (max) shredder, so should be used for more that 5 or 10 minutes without a long cool down period.
