I have a 1990 Geo Storm I just put brand new plugs brand new wires is given sparks but the sparks are not blue they're like regular fire color what does that mean and it wont start

ok spark is weak.
battery must be charged fully.
and timing not way, off , spark timing.
if found way off that is the (retarded) that is because
you skipped the cam service, new belt at 60,000 miles
spark timing off and low compression x4 , are sure sign
of belt never serviced.

if spark is good engine runs on test fuel , even with gas tank empty
if not , problem is easy to find, ask.

    wrong plugs, wrong gap, wires crossed. china root trash that fits on 3 ways. use Bosch or NGK parts that fit right. car and engine are ISZUZU.

How to determine if there's spark on coil 1992 Geo Storm engine 1.6

Old fashioned way is to pull plug wire and listen for the miss. You'll have rough or slower idle. Be well insulated and not grounded or you may feel the shock. There is also a cheap tool you can buy for 5 ish dollars. It will connect to spark plug and end of spark plug wire. Basically you pull the wire off the plug and put this tester between the wire and plug. Start the vehicle then look for spark on you new spark testing tool

the timing is 180 degrees out so ignore where no 1 lead should be and rewire the HT leads to the new position for no1 cylinder. The crank timing mark should be on 10 degrees advanced. Engines are timed off the crank position so forget the cam position.
Or you can start again. Remove no 1 plug and turn the engine over until you feel compression under your finger over the plug hole. Set the timing on the crank to 10 degrees before tdc. Position the distributor so that the point of the star is directly opposite the exciter coil in the distributor. The rotor button should now be facing no 1 cylinder plug lead adjust the HT leads so that they will fire in the 1342 firing order. Start the engine and with a timing light attached to no 1 plug lead adjust the timing mark to specifications by turning the body of the distributor.

I would look into replacing the coil even though it is sending spark it might not be enough and I would go through and just double check all my wires as well as the firing order because if it's off just a little it will make the car run rough

What will cause a 1990 geo storm sohc to run rough or not start? Changed, plugs, wires,cap, rotor?

Except for the ignition coil, that about takes care of the secondary ignition system. You should check to see if you have a good strong blue spark at one of the spark plug wires. If no spark, check the coil and the crank position sensor for one place to start, also the ignition control module. If you do have spark, the ignition should be good, and then you could concentrate elsewhere.
If there is a schrader valve on top of the engine-a fuel pressure test port-it would be easy to check fuel pressure. Autozone and others loan a fuel pressure tester. Possibly, a 1990 Storm may require a temporary "tee fitting" in the fuel line somewhere to test pressure. Look for the test port- it may have a cap that unscrews. It would be located in the fuel rail or the line to the injectors.

Beyond that, other problems could be dirty injectors, a malfunctioning EGR valve, a large intake manifold gasket leak, or worst case, a mechanical internal problem. If it gets to that, perform a compression test. If you have good compression in all cylinders, it should be good internally.

storms, those are very rare. and Isuzu is very dead here.USA.
which size engine?
wont crank/?
or cranks ok, but wont start.
its old.
1:check compression, yet, over 150PSI (w.o.t)
2: check for spark at all 4 cylinders?
3: try test fuel if spark is good (spray fuel)

Timing marks on 1.6 dual over head cam

the geo storm, 1.6 DOHC

hint 2, its an Isuzu engine.

so when timed, with a new belt
roll engine by hand, with spark plugs out.? do pistons hit valves.
yes, stop, the cam is timed wrong.
no, do a compression test on #1, if pass, do all 4. 150psi min.w.o.t.
wide open throttle
a better test, is a leak down test. x4. by hand.
these acts of kindness to the engine, saves most engines.

if the leak down fails, the timing is wrong, or the valves are already
bent..
dont use a fleabay china belt, bet a GATES belt. (they last)
setting the tension is very important to a full life .

1992 geo storm replaced distributer have fire out of coil wire but no fire spark plug wire module in distributer checks out

storm is an ISUZU
and had 3engines,which one? below is off wiki on storm.
1.6 L SOHC 4XE1 I4
1.6 L DOHC 4XE1 I4
1.8 L DOHC 4XF1 I4


coil makes 50,000 volts (even 1kv makes fire, but is too weak spark
spark plugs dead , right? all 4 right?
ever do a 60k mile tune up ? if not why not, it gets new spark parts then..
also, if the cam timing is off. the dizzy sparks between towers
make the distributor useless, it cant distribute spark.
so the first tests are .
static ignition timing. (yes, a tool, called a timing light for $20)
if timing is good the the wires HV are bad.
if timing is bad, bingo..... this is the first test on any motor.
if the timing belt or chain on any SOHC or DOHC engine slips
the dizzy will be way to h3ll off.
learn to use a timing light, and works 100% cranking.

look at that distributor cap (replace it)
see the coil wire , center, that is at 50kv spark.
and see that rotor, if the spark is good at the cap pins 1 to 4
then the dizzy is timed.
if the spark dont reach the spark plugs that means
the wire are bad or the spark plugs are shorted, or both.
its that simple. using a real spark testing tools tells you the KV.
kv = kilovolts. the best tools $5 bucks have and adjustable gap
this car is not 100kv, like newer cars and must be set (tool) to 50kv or tad less to show full powerful spark.

take care not to get shocked, keep hands off the parts
as friend cranks (or remote start button tool)

1990 geo storm 2x2, no horsepower upon accelration, change fuel

Try a set of plugs and wires,if not this then you may have a plugged converter.
