On the back of the camera, there is a column of 4 buttons. One is marked with a lightning-bolt-arrow icon. Press that button and you'll see an icon appear on the screen. Press that button again and again until you get an icon with the lightning-bolt-arrow inside a circle-with-a-line-through-it. (What Europeans would call a "no parking" icon, but Americans would call "the Ghostbusters thing.")

I want to take the photos that I have in kodak file and copy them to flash dirve.

sheri359,

If you are using Kodaks easyshare program then you can simply "drag & drop" the pictures onto your flash drive. You can also trying looking on your "C: drive" (hard drive) for your pictures. Normally Kodak Easyshare stores pictures at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Pictures\Kodak Pictures. Once you find your pictures all you need to do is select all the pictures you want to copy and paste them into your flash drive.

If the pictures are on your camera then connect your camera to the computer and then click on "My Computer" on your desktop or under the start menu (if you are using Windows). Then if a few seconds you should see a drive pop up that will say "Kodak*****", proceed to double click on that and keep clicking into the folders until you see your pictures. Once you see your pictures copy all of them. Once copied open up "My Computer" again and select your flash drive. Once inside your flash drive then right click in the window and select "paste". Your pictures should start copying over to your flash drive. Once the copying it complete you are the safe to remove your flash drive.

Note: I am assuming that you are using a Microsoft Windows operating system. If you are using MAC OS X then it is slightly different but similar.
I hope this helps! Good luck!

My camera cuts off after I take picture using flash and I have to keep cutting the on button

It takes a few seconds for this camera to save the picture. I thought it was odd at first, but you get used to it. It really depends on which type of picture you're taking, the flash, and if you have the timer set. But, there really is no problem unless you're waiting for over a minute.

After taking one picture with my Kodak Easyshare

I've had a similar problem with my Z1285.

The problem is probably weak batteries. The Z1285 requires really good batteries. Standard alkaline batteries don't last very long, perhaps a few dozen shots, less if you are using flash.

I've had success using lithium batteries, not the rechargeable type, but the disposable lithium. Specifically, the AA4 Energizer Ultimate Lithium.

Hope this helps.

Flash

checking on the first 2 comments, if there is flash and the pictures are dark - please check the lighting conditions
is it a dark place, fairly lighted or fully lighted

the flash also has a certain range, the subject may be far that the flash cannot reach it

if there is really no flash - it may be a hardware problem, pls contact kodak to arrange repairs
try going to PASM> fill flash too, if still not working - repairs =)
