My bread machine doesn't have audio beeps like it should at the step to remove the paddle or when the process is over. How can I fix this?

I've sent it back twice since both machines failed to have audio beeps. Is there anything I have to set or were these just defective? I just received my third one and I dread going through the process of using it again.

The time to remove the paddle on all machines is AFTER the final punch down and BEFORE the final rise. If you look in your manual at the schedule for the program you have chosen you will see when the final punch down occurs. After those few seconds of punch down... That is when you can reach in and remove the dough ball, take out the paddle, set it aside, then return the dough to the pan. If you just follow this plan you won't need a beep alert.

Mixing paddles come off during mixing, am using teflon tape on shaft to hold paddles on, what is a better fix?

Sound like you need new shafts or paddles and I know the paddles can cost $30 each. so think about a new model or buy one at a thrift store and try those paddle or use the machine. I got a great one for $10 . :)

Timer is working but the motor (that spins the piece to make the dough) does not. Is there any security fuse ? Thanks Michel

Hi michel amor

If you are using the timer nothing will happen until the time you set for the breadmaking process to begin occurs. In other words if it 8 am and you want your bread several hours later then your bread machine will do nothing until several hours later. If you don't want to use the timer and you just want to be sure that your paddle turns and kneads the bread go ahead and push the stop button and hold it down until it beeps. Unplug your machine, then plug it back in. Then do this:
----push select
----choose your program ( for example choose #1 basic)
---choose your crust color
----choose your loaf size 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 pounds
----push the start button
----your machine will start mixing with the paddle
----if your machine is cold it may warm up for about 15 -20 minutes but it will start mixing within 1/2 hour.........hope all this helps

No matter the recipe I choose, the bread resulting from meticulous attention to ingredients is always very dry duing the kneading process, mealy and dense once cooking is complete. When I first got my...

Hi, If you are doing everything as before and not getting the desired results then it could be that the belts are slipping and not allowing the paddles to fully incorporate all the ingredients. Either that or the paddles themselves are sticking and not moving freely. The belt problem is an easy fix but if the paddles are sticking then it could be the sealed bearings the paddles rotate in is failing and a new bread pan is needed. To check this, take the empty pan and paddles out of the machine and see if you can turn the paddles freely by hand. if no then the sealed bearings are failing. If they turn okay then it could be the belts. Belts and motor are located in the base of the machine. Unplug machine before checking them. Also, make sure the pan is seated correctly in the machine. Re Black & Decker Bread Maker: Most of the time the paddles remains stuck in the pan and the bread sticks to the paddles. As a result, loaves usually have large chunks torn out of them. There are...

Hi, Take the paddle out of the machine at the end of the last kneading cycle and before final rise.. Use pause or take pan out of machine to remove paddle. OR... spray the shaft with a small amount of olive oil. This should allow paddle to come out when bread is done. You will have to fish the paddle out of the bread in this step. Hank

Why did the kneading paddle on my 1148X bread machine quit working. This happened the third time it was used. It did the initial mixing and resting. When it started the kneading process again, the blade...

Hi, If this is the third time using it, it could be defective. Return it for service. If not under warranty, try a few things. 1) Make sure the pan is inserted in the machine correctly. 2) Make sure that the paddle is not sticking, or the sealed bearing on the bottom of the bread pan is not broken or frozen. (Take pan out and see if you can turn the paddle freely by hand). Or finally, the belt may be loose and slipping, especially when it takes more power to knead the dough the second time. Good luck...Hank

Kneading paddle is baked into bottom of bread loaf. Is this normal?

Yes, this is a common occurrence.
Nothing to worry about unless you chow down and forget to remove the paddle(s). :)

Since the paddle(s) stays in the pan after the kneading and through the baking process. The bread can trap the paddle(s) as the batter cooks.

We have gone through 3 different bread machines and over time all eventually did this. A little wear on the spindle will loosen the paddle(s).
Hope this helps!

Paddle stuck inside bread

I have the B2300 bread machine as well and I have encountered the same problem as you. So, I came up with the idea of removing the paddles right after the machine has stopped mixing the dough. Whenever I bake bread at home, I tend to follow the above mentioned solution and it made my life much easier.

Blades stuck inside bread

Unfortunately trying to stick the paddles in the pan just tends to leave half the loaf in the bottom with them. The best method i have found is to cut the crust around the outside of the paddles, carefully avoiding the bit where the actual paddle blade is, then you insert a rod into the centre of the paddle and tilt it towards the blade. They normally come free pretty easily. Another method you can use if you are around the machine when it is making bread, is to remove the paddles at the end of the mixing/kneading cycle, just before the baking cycle starts. Most machines have a small pause allowing you to do this - sometimes with a "beep" or screen message to tell you that you can do this. Sorry i couldn't find the exact info for your model, it will vary for different baking programs also. If you check the cycle to determine at which stage it starts actually baking, then you can do this quite safely so long as you are careful of the machine heating up while you are removing the paddles - usually you would have around 20 minutes at least to remove the paddles before baking. Hope this helps :)
