What does the message "print head error" mean?

That is not very much information to go on. So you can try cleaning it.

Turn on the hot water until warm
Put about 1/2 inches of water in a cup
Put the print head portion (where the ink comes out) in for about a minute
Dry off the cartridge using a soft tissue.
Re-insert the cartridge into the printer.
Run the normal cleaning software routine a few times

Dell 922, 4 yrs old, did not change color cartridge, now prints blue highlight over all images and text. Have clicked "clean t fix horiz streaks" and wiped head. No change. Help!

If the cartridge was left in it during an extended period of time (we'll say three months or longer) without use, it can damage the print head in a way that is irreparable. At four years old, unfortunately, it is probably cheaper to replace the printer than to have the head professionally repaired. Dry ink is the great enemy of inkjet printers.
If you clicked the cleaner multiple times with no luck, the only thing besides replacing the printer I would suggest would be to try another print cartridge. Unfortunately, if this isn't the problem you've just wasted whatever the cartridge costs. BUT if this unit directly touches the cartridge to the paper to print, it should repair the problem.

4. Reconnect the power supply to the back of the printer.
Plug the power cord back into the wall socket.

Dell Printers

To run a nozzle clean, perform the following steps:
1. Verify the All-In-One Printer 922 is powered on and connected to a computer.
2. Verify that the paper support (input tray) has clean, plain white paper loaded.
3. Press the Menu button.
4. Press the Down button until Mode: Maintenance appears on the LCD screen.
5. Press the Menu button.
The Dell 922 Maintenance Menu appears on the LCD screen.

6. Press the Down button until Clean Cartridges appears on the LCD screen.
7. Press the Start button.
The AIO 922 prints the cleaning page. This process cleans the ink cartridges and resolves many print quality issues.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Part of the tag does NOT print out.

DID YOU CLEAN THE PRINT HEAD AND BRY IT GOOD, CHECK THE SOFTWARE.

MAKE SURE THE MATTERAIL IS THE SAME FOR EACH TAG, DIFFERANT TYPE OF MATERAIL WILL GIVE DIFFERENT TYPE OF PRINT AND THE FINAL PRODUCE WILL BE TOTALY DIFFERENT.
SEE IF THE PRINT HEADS HAVE THE SAME CLEAR-INES, SEE IF THE HEADS HAVE APART THAT CAN MAKE THE PRINT A BETTER PICTURE OR BETTER QUILITY OF PRINT.
SEE IT THE PRINT HEAD HAS ANY TYPE OF HEAD ADJUSTMENT, REQUEST A SERVICE MANUAL FOR THIS TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT AND YOU WILL NEED SOME FILLER GIUDGES TO MAKE THAT SDJUSTMENT THE SAME ONES YOU USED TO FIX THE OLD CAR WITH THE FLAT SILER ONES

Dell 922 black printout problem

you are good at taking things apart and not destroying them, then the problem can usually be fixed easily.

Remove the ink carts.
on either side of the carrage there is a screw, remove both of them.

CAREFULLY slide out the silver bar those screws are holding. Be sure to note its orentation for putting the thing back in later.

also carefully remove the silver "fingers".

remove the black clip/cover on the right side of the carrage that covers the ribbon cables.

lift the head (you see 4 nipples in there-- that is the top of the head assembly)

gently pull out the ribbon cables.

on the bottom of the head is 2 screws, remove them

now the head will come into 4 parts. Nipples, Gasket, nozzle block, and a metal guard.

get some windex with amonia.

soak the parts for a day or 2.

blot dry, then let it set for atleast 2 days to be sure it is COMPLETELY dry.

reassemble, charge the ink, do the printers head cleaning, and boom. back in business.

this works 90% of the time

Dell 922 All-in-one printer has message on printer saying head error

can you provide the error message, depending on the error and if you want to attempt to repair it yourself? Printers are like computers these days you can almost replace it for the repair cost, but if you will provide a error code we can see what we can do.
