Ive never worked on a Kenmore but it may just be the overflow outlet. All washing machines have an overflow which will dump water out from the top of the tub if it overfills but sometimes on high fill water level, clothes can splash around and cause a "wave" of water to splash out over the overflow outlet. Check to see if the leak only occurs when you have selected high level fill.
The front panel comes off and you will be able to trace the water source. These combo units spin immediatly and if the drain is slow the water will spin up over the edge of the tub during drain. Eric
The machine needs to be leveled. Unscrew the front legs until the machine is level. If there isn't enough screw, or if your floor is really uneven, put a board under the front legs. After you get the front level, lean the machine toward you, tilting it front, until the back feet are about 3 inches off the floor. Let the machine drop. This will set the back legs into position. They are self leveling.
Most times it's the water control valve on the rear of refrigerator and near the floor. And you can test the ice maker by filling with water. Let it freeze and if it dumps the ice and does not refill then the water control valve. If the water freezes and nothing happens the the ice maker is the problem. If you had your model number I could tell you part numbers. Anyway try that and let me know your findings. Kenmore uses a model number like 312.54689 for example found on front near floor and behind the fresh food section door. Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze
Have your husband disconnect the power and water lines, pull the washer out and tip it back so he can check the hose connections to the water drain pump in the bottom of the washer. That pump should have two hose connections. In older machines, it is entirely possible that a hose has either come loose or cracked. If the hoses appear fine, check the pump itself for possible cracks. If all looks well, check the hose clamps for tightness.
unplug it again , sounds like your drain line has frozen, instaead of defrost water going down the tube and under refrig in drain pan, becuse tube is frozen its draining into freezer compartment and eventually spilling out through front of unit. totally defrost unit and behind back wall of freezer youll see a metal trough designed to catch water, in the center (under the ice is gonna be the drain hole, pour boiling water down until it runs freely
I am a recently retired engineer of 20 years
once you have ruled out anything getting inside the machine by accident etc, like something in pockets or greasy overalls, then its likely to be the drum bearings, has the machine started to get noisy on the spin
the drum bearings are covered by a rubber seal, this seal gets damaged or worn and water leaks into the bearings themselves washing out the grease back into the drum where the washing is, you could also notice slight water marks on the floor underneath the machine on the floor, take the back off and look for water marks coming from the drum outer casing behind the pulley, these marks will be brown and will originate from a small drain hole,
if any of the above change the bearings before any real damage is done, either to the clothes or the machine, as repair can be expensive?
sorry, hope i have helped you as to where to look at least,
