Ok maximum volume on the ipod will only work if you change it yourself. if you havent tried this yet, turn on your ipod then select settings then select volume limit and set it to whatever you want. if this doesnt work you can plug in your ipod and open up itunes and change it from there. the way you do this is right click on the song and click get info in the tabs select options and then you can set the volume limit there as well u can aplify the volume or change lower it

Volume wont turn up on my mp3 - volume too low

How to Reset the Volume Limit on the iPod Nano
Resetting the volume limit on your iPod Nano affects everything you listen to, from music to audio books. You can adjust the volume for each individual item on your Nano using the click wheel, but the highs and lows of the sound will depend on the overall volume limit setting. Volume levels will vary with different ear buds and headphones, and using external devices like docking stations to play your iPod Nano will also cause variation in the volume.
Instructions
1 Press any button on your iPod Nano's click wheel and turn it on. Press the "menu" button at the top of the click wheel until you reach the iPod menu.
2 Select "Settings" from this menu by scrolling down until "Settings" is highlighted, then click the center button.
3 Select "Playback" from the menu choices that show up.
4 Select "Volume Limits." You will reach a screen with a speaker icon and dots indicating the level of volume your iPod is currently set on.
5 Scroll the wheel up or back to adjust the volume limits. Press the center button and you will have the option to lock in your settings by selecting a four-digit combination lock. This is not a necessary step; you can click on "done" and finish. Setting the combination allows you to have more control over any future changes to your iPod's volume limits. Scroll the click wheel to select your combination. Press the center button and you will revisit the volume limits; adjust it as you like and press the center button.

Tips & Warnings
If you set up a combination and forget it, you can reset your iPod Nano and start over again. Resetting will not lose any of your downloads, but you will need to restore or reset many of the settings you initially chose when you first set up your iPod.
Changing the volume limits on your iPod Nano covers everything on your player, but the sound levels for songs, audio books and shows will vary based on how they were recorded.

Music wont turn up -- too soft to hear properly

It could be that the maximum volume limit has been switched on too low.
Go to settings then playback and then volume limit, the volume control shows the maximum volume it has been set to. Use the click wheel to select your maximum volume and then press the centre button to set the limit. Then choose done. Hope this helps.

I have a 6th generation iPod Nano. This is the fifth one I've had and they all have had the same problem. At some point (usually after I've had it about a month) it starts to turn the volume down...

The only thing I can think of is that maximum limit has been set low and is somehow lowering itself. To set the maximum limit

On the home screen, tap settings
Tap Music, then tap Volume Limit
The volume limit control will then come up to raise the limit move the slider all the way to the right.

If you want to stop the volume limit moving you can put in a passcode by clicking on the Lock Volume Limit and entering a passcode (I'd just put in 1234, so you can remember it easily(

Hope this helps.

The volume control on my new iPod Nano isn't working

The iPod Nano has the ability to "lock" the volume of music played at a particular level. Perhaps this only affects the volume of the earphones (versus the internal speaker). Please see "Setting The Maximum Volume Limit" in the user's manual:

Dont know the code to unlock my ipod screen and volume limit

this should help you below. If you have set a password on the volume limit and forgot the password please let me know cause you will then have to remove the password or restore the device. This is only one step in trying to remove the volume limit it may work or it may not and you will have to use another method. But please tell me if this method works and if it doesnt i will instruct you on where to go from here. To set the maximum volume limit for iPod classic: 1 Choose Settings > Volume Limit. The volume control shows the current volume. 2 Use the Click Wheel to select the maximum volume limit. You can press Play to hear the currently selected song play while you select the maximum volume limit. 3 Press Play/Pause to set the maximum volume limit. A triangle on the volume bar indicates the maximum volume limit. 4 Press the Menu button to accept the maximum volume limit without requiring a combination to change it. Or, on the Enter Combination screen, set a combination to require that the combination be entered to change the maximum volume limit. If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with
which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device
(or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the
device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not
be present Follow the steps that i have outlined below. If this does not completely help your situation please
let me know and i will be glad to assist you. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the IPod by doing the following: 1 If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage
its songs. . . Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of the iPod Nano. 2 Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on a Mac or PC computer. 3 Open the iTunes application by clicking on the Dock icon on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC. 4 Click on the name of your iPod Nano under the "Devices" list in the iTunes window. 5 Click on the "Sync" button to establish a connection between your iPod and the computer. 6 Click on the eject symbol next to your iPod's name after the syncing process has finished. 7 Unplug your iPod Nano. The device will be unlocked and you will be able to access all normal features
again. if that does not work you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note
that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod. If you want to change the primary computer that your IPod is associated with, do this: 1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data. 2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer. 3. Open iTunes and synchronize. Apple also notes that company "representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your combination.
If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is
to restore the IPod, which will erase all music and data." If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to
assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the comment. thanks and have a great day.
