How to configure the Motorola MC9090 to prefix Data Stream Indicator? This is urgent, please help.

Barcode with Prefixed Data Stream Indicator is not able to scan, since the scanner device is missing data stream indicator setup.

  • Robert DeMaree Dec 06, 2019

To the best of my recollection--there is no data stream indicator setup for that series of scanner. Unfortunately, you may be forced to somehow separate the "prefixed data stream", from the barcode--in order to be able to scan.

SOURCE: Motorola MC3090 do not read barcode starting with zero

look online there are learning barcodes out there you can scan, look for one with zero in front, if you are making the barcodes yourself than put a * at the beginning and end and then make barcode, it will capture everything in between,

Function keys on MC9090

hi,
Sound like you need to look at your Keyboard mapping files, easiest way to fix this is to use Motorola System Configuration Manager - Downloadable from the Motorola website.
If the unit need to be restored to factory defaults, than a fast way is to run the Clean boot files from the SD Card also downloadable via the Motorola site - search for 'MC9090 Clean boot'

Could not active it the scanner on the MC9090

The link works for me DataWedge provides a convenient mechanism for non-scanning aware applications to receive data from embedded or connected data capture devices. It allows the user to capture data into any application that accepts keyboard input. It supports four types of Data Feeds: Barcode Scanners, RFID Tag Readers, MSR Readers and Serial Data Input. It provides user with text/hex data formatting and prefix/suffix facilities. Description
  1. New Test and Log Display.
  2. Improved DataWedge Startup Time for MSR and RFID
  3. Gen2 RFID Support
  4. Device enable/disable persistence over cold boot
  5. Virtual Key Support in Prefix/Suffix
  6. Performance improvements for MSR
  7. Enable Serial Interface on startup
  8. Support added for Event based Serial reading.
  9. Delays regarding RFID are fixed.
  10. Several Barcode character mapping issues fixed.
make sure some security software is not blocking your access

Do I need to purchase the Device Configuration Package?

Depending on what application your client will use, you will need to configure the scanner in which ever way suits your customer.

If you use a telnet client kind like wavelink, you can configure it from there. If you planning on using some other application that has not scaner api's, you will need to use datawedge which is available as a free download from symbol support.

The DCP is normally available free of charge, however motorola has changed the downloads policy for dcp and depending on the version, you may need to provide them with information of the terminal and request the download.

I hope this helps.

Removing leading zeros from barcode???

Prefix/Suffix Dialogs
The Prefix/Suffix Dialogs allows configuration of DataWedge options.
Two data entry fields are used to display and allow entry or editing of prefix and
suffix strings. The prefix string, if present, is transmitted before the data for any
barcode scanned. The suffix string, if present, is transmitted after the data for any
barcode scanned.
The following checkboxes are used to display and allow modification of various
DataWedge options:
Allow escapes in prefix/suffix (default = disabled)
Enabling this option allows escape sequences to be embedded in prefix and
suffix strings. Escape sequences allow non-textual data to be transmitted as
part of the prefix or suffix string. All escape sequences begin with the backslash “\”
character. The supported escape sequences are:
\b Backspace
\f Form feed
\n New line (line feed)
\r Carriage return
