Computer Printer The printer will not print from my computer, it will however copy from the glass top, and will produce test pages. I have unplugged and rebooted both the UBS cable and power supply, negative. Just prior to the problem a sheet of paper jammed in the feed, which I removed. I have checked for any obstructions in the feed negative.

SOURCE: hp psc 1315 paper jam

Hi,

. Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge inside the all-in-one printer to dissipate before putting your hands or any metal tools inside the chassis.

2.
Pin down the exact location of the jam. The 3 hot spots for a jam are before a sheet completely leaves the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and print carriage or between the print carriage and output tray.

3.
Take off the front paper tray if the sheet jammed while still in the front area of the printer. If here, you should be able to see most of the paper.

4.
Pull the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a piece deeper inside the machine.

5.
Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed-tray area and print carriage. Carefully remove the jammed paper.

6.
Use the carriage access door to get at a jam further inside the printer. You may need to remove the print carriage to get to the jam.

7.
Replace all parts and return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

I just figured out my issue. It had to do with DEP − Data Execution
Prevention. I had remembered that I was fooling around with this a couple
weeks ago and had changed it to "Turn on DEP for all programs and services
except those I select" in which I had Windows Explorer checked. I just got
done selecting the original which states "Turn on DEP for essential Windows
programs and services only", rebooted, and now I can print again to my hp
7350 printer.
The DEP can be found under control panel−>system−>Advanced Tab−>Performance
Settings−>Data Execution Prevention Tab
Hope this helps.

Prints test copy every time I switch it on.

All right so you are getting print test copy every time you turn on or switch on your printer. You can follow the following steps to fix this issue:-

1.. Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Turn it on again

2. Let the printer print the test page.

3. After the test page is printed, disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer to your computer. DO NOT turn off the printer while disconnecting the USB cable.

4. Place the test page on the scanner glass and press the SCAN button on the printer. The ON light will flash as the page is being scanned.

5. Remove the test page when the ON light is steady.

6. Finally, turn off the printer and wait another 10 seconds. Then turn it on again. No more printing test pages! Yay!

(You may now reconnect the printer to your computer via the USB cable.)

let me know if it fix this issue and helpful to you.

I want to test printer with no conection to the PC only test page. What buttons Can I press for to print test page directly of printer?

Hi, you can't print a test page directly from the printer, but since it's a copier also, you can copy a page of text or graphics to make sure everything prints okay. Just place a piece of paper on the glass and press either the black or color copy button. (The computer must be on to make a copy.)

Problem for HP Color LaserJet 8500 Printer Black line on the left side printed page while making copy on HP. This problem occurs only while loading the page on the top tray HP 8500 printer. No black line...

Hello,
This is usually caused by something on the scanner glass. Check for dried ink or correction fluid on the scanner glass. We have a short article about solving this type of issue posted here: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/lines-on-scanned-or-copies-pages/

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

PRINTER WILL PRINT COPY OF SOMETHING BUT WANT PRINT SOMETHING OFF COMPUTER.

This problem sounds like the printer is not set up properly on the computer. Have you installed the software that came with it? If so, look for the printer under control panel and then try a test page. If the test page doesnt work, how is the printer connected to the computer, by USB cable? If it is connected by usb, try shutting the computer down, unplugging the usb cable, restarting the computer and once it is fully started, plug the usb cable for the printer back in. Do you hear a tone after the printer is plugged in? If so try to print again.

HP Laser Jet 2840 Printer

If it's scan and copy only and not when you send a job from the computer your solution is easy to remedy. Try going into the menu located on the printer to info menu. Scroll down to conguration page and click the check button. When the printer prints, if the line is not on the page you simply have ink or white-out on the scan glass for the ADF (auto doc feeder).

To clean the ADF glass, lift the top lid to expose the glass. There are two peices, 1 large full size and one strip peice. If your getting the line when using the auto feeder (without lifting top) pay close attention to the strip of glass. When a document is auto-fed it moves the original past the strip of glass. A dot (pen mark or white-out) will appear as a line on your final copy.

Clean well with windex or similar glass cleaner. PUT THE CLEANER ON THE RAG THEN THE RAG TO THE GLASS. Don't spray the glass as it's easy to get it into cracks where to don't want it to fall on an electronic part or board below the glass edges. While you at it, clean all the glass.

Test by making a copy of a "BLANK" sheet of paper with one small line to give you postion clues. First by putting it on the glass. Clean everywhere on the large glass that shows a mark on the page (except the one you purposely put there). The mark will help you locate where to clean. (example - 1" below and 2" over from your intentional mark) It also helps you identify top of page from bottom.

Once that is done do the same thing using the original in the ADF. Simply measure in from the edge of the page on the copy and find the corresponding spot on the small strip of glass.

IF YOU SHOULD BE GETTING THE LINE IN ALL FUNCTIONS, PRINT, COPY MANUALLY, AND COPY WITH ADF. Check the toner cartridge, most likely black for damage on the cartidge drum. The cartridge drum can be quickly viewed by flipping the shutter open (the part with the HP logo and part number printed on it). If there is a line, replace the cartridge.

Hope that helps you. If so hit it with a FIXYA!

Printer problem

Does the line appear while copying or printing ?

To isolate the issue try to print a self test page :

1. Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the Start Copy Color button.

2. Release both buttons. The self-test page prints.

If you see lines on the test page then the issue is with the cartridge or cartridge contacts. Clean the cartridge and cartridge contacts inside the printer.

rRemove both the cartridges. Using a clean, dry lint-free cloth (a coffee filter works well), wipe the cartridge contacts, from the top to the bottom. The contact area of the cartridge should be rubbed briskly to remove the waxy lubricant material from the gold contacts.
The contacts inside the printer may also require cleaning. Using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. Gently wipe the contacts, from the top to the bottom.
Reinsert the cartridge and print. If the issue issue persists replace cartridge(s).

If you do not see lines on the test page. Place the same test page on the scanner glass and make a color copy. If the lines are on the copied Image the issue is with the scanner glass.
clean the scanner glass :

Clean the glass and scanner backing
  1. Turn off the all-in-one.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the back of the all-in-one.
  4. Raise the lid.
  5. Clean the glass with a soft dry cloth, or a sponge slightly moistened with non-abrasive glass cleaner or water. CAUTION: Do not use abrasives, acetone, benzene, or carbon tetrachloride on the glass; they can damage it. Do not place or spray liquid directly on the glass; the liquid might seep under the glass and damage the device.
  6. Dry the glass with a chamois, cellulose sponge or soft cotton cloth to prevent spotting.
  7. Clean the white scanner backing with a soft dry cloth or sponge slightly moistened with water, and allow it to dry.
Try a blank copy
  1. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  2. Plug the power cord into the all-in-one.
  3. Turn the power on.
  4. Close the lid; do not place any paper on the glass.
  5. Load paper in the paper tray.
  6. Do either of the following:
    • Press Start Copy Black to start a black-and-white copy job.
    • Press Start Copy Color to start a color copy job.
  7. If the output is a full/half-black page, or has vertical black lines, the product needs service or contact HP for in warranty replacement.
Thank you .
