Question about Sony Network Walkman NW-E005 MP3 Player

MP3 player dead

I hadn't used my Sony NW-E005 player for a few weeks. Today I plugged it into my computer's USB port and...nothing. It's just dead, doesn't charge up at all! Any ideas as to what may have caused this?

PS: I have never used the Sony sonicstage bloatware, always Dr Void's wonderful voidmp3fm

The same problem occured when I fully discharged the NW-E005 because it was open in my bag.
I tried to reset it but still nothing happens.
I am afraid the batterie has broken down.

SOURCE: MP3 player dead

well did you push the it all the way in the USB Port? Sometiems I don't connect it all the way and it doesn't charge. I go to my school and charge it on there computers too and it charges fine.

Another advice is to actually use the Sonicstage to avoid viruses. It's not that hard to install or download music files.

My walkman mp3 player wont turn on!! how do i get it to turn on? it hasn't gotten wet or anything and i cat think of any reason why it shouldnt be working

When you plug it into the USB port of your computer does it do anything? If it doesn't then your player is likely dead. If it does do something then it likely just needs a full recharge.

Battery Problems?

Hi all. If you have had your players for some time, and have re-charged them many times over that period (a usual action) then your battery might be near dead.

Most re-chargeable batteries, the longer they are used and re-charged, actually decrease in charged capacity over time.

The only solution, if this *is* the problem, is to fit a new battery. Firms make replacement nw-a3000 etc. batteries for this purpose. I did a google search and found this site:

There are, I am sure, many more sites which can supply you with what you need!

Sony mp3 player nw-e005

It sounds to be a false contact problem. If when you connect it the player shows the battery as it will start charging it, then I bet it is a false contact caused for normal use of plugging/unplugging in USB port. If this is the case, I would try to fix it before getting a new one.

Files will not load

Try reformatting the drive to factory defaults. I would also try this unit on other PCs to verify that the USB port will not work correctly. Does the USB port on your Sony Walkman MP3 player have any damage or broken pins/connectors on the USB port?
