No one buy Universal Remotes anymore. You buy a facsimile copy remote for the television you have. This needs no programming because it is made for your set. They cost $20 to $30. Add the model number of your television after the word 'emerson' and press enter.
before you buy a new hand-held remote ... have you changed ALL the batteries. There's a set in the hand-held remote and batteries in the receiver, which is behind the fan's cowling. If you haven't changed them all, I'd do that before investing in a new remote control.
if you find, after changing all the batteries, you do need a new remote control, here is a link to one for all Hampton Bay Ceiling Fans.
You have built-in features that correspond between the TV and The Hand held controller designed by Emerson. Universal remotes are lacking some features that are necessary for full function of the TB. In your case, you may be required to replace the hand held unit with another exactly alike and with all of the functions you are accustomed to.
Best to have the original remote. Remotes.com seems to be the only people selling the original remote. Not cheap though.

I believe this is the only way to solve the problem.
my panasonic tv model no. PV-DF2704, program light is blinking and I don't know how to cut it off. It is causing my tv to cut off. My remote control will not work. I bought it second hand. I program a universal remote and it works for a little while, but I can not set my tv for cable. Please help me if you can.
Hey try unplugging your television and taking the batteries out of the remote control.. Wait about 5 minutes and try it then! Did that help? If not, your remote control code be broken or it could be your television, but most likely the remote, so I would recommend purchasing a new replacement remote control from a site like http://www.remotecontrolscenter.com instead of buying a universal remote control that you'll have to spend hours trying to program to work with your tv, instead the replacement remote will be an exact replacement for that broken remote control. Hope that helps!
