Battery charging and control, electric start. Need schematic and parts list.

I have an older HOMELITE 176A35-1A Gen-set, starts and runs fine, makes power BUT. Control panel has been replaced by previous owner and unit will no longer recharge the battery while running. Need schematic / wiring diagram of the start / charging circuit on this unit or any troubleshooting advise. Thank You ! ADD ON: Contacted HOMELITE , they claim to know nothing about this unit even though it has their brand all over it, this is one of the older ORANGE 176A35-1A models.

I still need the starting / charging circuit.

The UT number for this generator is UT-03559. The problem is like yours can't find anything online in the line parts or owners manuals for this unit. You may try http://www.ktoutdoor.com/
They were listing this number. doesn't mean they have anything on it but might be worth a try.

Here is alternate idea on recharging the battery use a 12 dc ac adapter for recharging while the unit is in use.

Testimonial: "Thanks Eugene ! Using the "UT" number I did finally get a manual from "HOMELITE",,BUT,, the schematic in the manual shows nothing relative to the start/charge circuit. For the time being, until warmer weather at least I have a Harbor Freight battery maintainer keep the battery topped off, or untill I can find a better idea of how the start/generator circuit works (or is supposed to)."

8700 predator no electric start just makes a sound starter won't engauge

harbor FRIGHT(pun) gen.
asking the blind this.? and deaf
i can not see it fail or hear it fail so any savvy answer is just generic.
well did you pin the engine by hand first. flywheel exposed
if engine is dry of oil and seized no engine cranks, like that.
my gen, has rip cord start and electric start both, so if battery does
the generator is not useless, amazing no? useful at all times.

answer 2, starter spins (it) and starter spins flywheel and crank fast but will not start.
1: oil level low and spark is cut by it on purpose
2: spark good tested, good. runs on test fuel now but for 3 seconds
3: gas is bad.
4:making filter clogged too.
5:making carb clogged too
6 or bugs built nest in air cleaner and no air for engine to run. now.
i think I got them all if switches not set wrong.

On loss of utility power, Koehler residential generator (new) automatically starts up but then shuts down within seconds with ac sens loss fault; only behaves like that on loss of utility power.

I would think it's not wired in right. The Shore power sensor circuit may be tied in to Generator power. Control panel would bypass this shore power sensing circuit.

According to this charging system isn't working correctly ! This is a computer controlled charging system .
Principles of Operation
The powertrain control module (PCM) controlled charging system determines the optimal voltage setpoint for the charging system and communicates this information to the voltage regulator. This system is unique in that it has 2 unidirectional communication lines between the PCM and the generator/regulator. Both of these communication lines are pulse-width modulated (PWM). The generator communication (GEN COM) line communicates the desired setpoint from the PCM to the voltage regulator. The generator monitor (GEN MON) line communicates the generator load and error conditions to the PCM. The third pin on the voltage regulator, the A circuit pin, is a dedicated battery voltage sense line.
The charging system voltage is controlled by the PCM. The generator charges the battery and at the same time supplies power for all of the electrical loads that are required. The battery is more effectively charged with a higher voltage when the battery is cold and a lower voltage when the battery is warm. The PCM is able to adjust the charging voltage according to the battery temperature by using a signal from the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. This means the voltage setpoint is calculated by the PCM and communicated to the regulator by a communication link.
The PCM simultaneously controls and monitors the output of the generator. When the current consumption is high or the battery is discharged (the PCM recognizes this and increases the output of the generator to accommodate), the system is also able to increase the idle speed to increase the charge.
To minimize the engine drag when starting the engine, the PCM does not allow the generator to produce any output until the engine has started. The PCM then progressively increases the output of the generator.
The PCM turns the charging system warning indicator off after the engine is started and illuminates it under fault conditions (when the generator is not generating the correct amount of current with the engine running). The charging system warning indicator is also illuminated by the PCM whenever the key is ON with the engine OFF.
This is a System 4 charging system, which uses the GEN MON and GEN COM lines to control and monitor the charging system through the PCM. System 4 charging systems are virtually identical in design and therefore, share the same diagnostics. The circuit numbers and colors may be different, but the functions are the same.

I have a 3.2kva generator that was working fine. It has not been started for a couple of years. Got it started today but its not producing any electricity. Any ideas?

Sometimes, after a long period of non use, you need to 'flash the field' of a generator. If your gen is electric start, this should not be the problem. If it is a pull start, maybe so. Go online and see if you can find a schematic of you gen and try to find the field connections. Sometimes just momentarily connecting a battery across the field terminals will do the trick

Power loss

950 watt is very small. Most electrical appliances need 1000watt to operate so if the vacuum cleaner is 1000watt then the gen set will trip. Check the drill as it is possibly 850watt which the gen set can handle. It all has to do with the wattage of the equipment you intend to run from the gen set

Electric start cliking, lights flicker when running

if you have a volt meter, check the battery cables for voltage when its running. if you read above 12 volts, then your charging system is fine - replace the battery. if less than 12 volts, then you have a bad stator winding and will need to have the charging portion of the stator replaced. probably about a $300 part.
