"Would like report of supplies from 2840 laserjet. How to get it to show report"
Select 'Menu" button, then select "Reports", then select "Supplies Report".
This will print the status of the four toner cartridges and the drum.
It doesn't make sense to reset toner cartridges UNLESS you refill them first. On the HP 2840 each cartridge/drum contains a chip that measures the life of the unit.
You can purchase toner/chip combinations online cheaper than new cartridges. I also purchase drum chips to extend the use of my drum until print quality actually starts to deteriorate.
I use both of these methods to save money on supplies - buy toner and toner chips, buy drum chip to get full use of drum unit.
Are you using the same cable to connect? The 2800 series printers do not tolerate USB cables over 10 feet and I have had some that would not connect properly unless a 6 foot cable was used. If you are using the same cable then it is possible that the drivers for the docking station are not installed properly on your laptop and you might need to update them from the manufacturers website.
Did you purchase a new cartridge or refill? These supplies have a non-resetable chip on them that must be replaced when a cartridge is refilled. If it is an new HP original cartridge, contact HP and have them replace it. If it is a refill, contact whoever you bought it from and get them to replace it.
Clean the terminals of the cartridge.
use an eraser and gently rub the terminals until the gold terminals shine.
Now try thecartridge.
if the problem still persist. then you can go for replacement of the cartridge from where you purchased it. The problem is pure technical and you deserve a replacement

You need to recheck the fuser that you put in. It can only sit in a certain way and direction. If it is just a little bit off it will make that annoying noise. God bless.
