How to unmute my systems internal microphone

Depends on what Operating System you have; Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 (or 8.1). Also, what HP laptop do you have? does it have a built-in microphone?

Google offers free calling online via its Google Voice service and your Gmail account.
As of the date of this publication, the free service only applies to calls made to phones within the United States.

Activating the service requires modifying your Gmail settings.
Once you've changed the settings to enable outbound voice calls to phones, you can make calls from Google's dialing system through the Gmail "Chat" area.

Set up a headset, or microphone and speakers, on your computer to use during the call.
Sign in to your Gmail account.

Click the gear-shaped icon at the top-right corner of the screen and select "Mail settings" from the drop-down menu.


Click the "Chat" tab to see the Chat options, then set up your voice chat features. Verify the audio settings in the "Voice and video chat" section, then click the circle to the left of "Enable outbound voice calling with Google Voice" and select your default country in the "Call Phones" area.

When finished, click the "Save Changes" button. Scroll down to the "Chat" area in your Gmail and click the "Call phone" option to open the "Call" window that features the dialer number keypad.


Check that the flag to the left of the phone number field in the "Call" window matches your country so that Google Voice dials using the correct country code.

If it isn't the correct flag, click the down arrow to the right of the flag and select the correct one. Enter the number of the phone you want to call, then click the "Call" button to dial the number.

When you're finished, click "End" to disconnect the call or wait for the other person to hang up; the system automatically disconnects shortly after.

Go to the bottom right hand side of your computer screen, look for the speaker icon, double click the speaker icon, a window will open and show you the volume control, make sure none of those are checked "mute".
Then go to the top of that window left hand side and click on "options"then click "properties" scroll down and make sure "microphone" is not checked.
This should clear your microphone problem.

First go the system preferences and then sound and then click on the input and ensure that the built-in microphone is selected and check the volume is set to whatever you need.

In google chat go to options and then down to chat settings. You can then go to microphone under Voice and video chat and under microphone select either default device or built-in microphone. You can then verify your settings.

the steps u can try is 
1. go to start->control panel->sound and audio devices->double click on it and then go to the voice tab->in the voice tab click on to volume button and click on to the options tab and then go to properties and after that in the mixer device select the first option or check the recordings options then check all of the options in the list then click ok you will get a new window which give you the option of unmuting the microphone.

go to Tools => Options => Audio Settings, see Microphone Volume, uncheck Automatically adjust microphone settings, adjust volume manually, test mic if green line showing up. To check if mic is muted, when calling contact in the calling window point on mic if it says Unmute microphone click on it, if it says Mute microphone it's already unmuted.

check that the line in and the microphone in or the rear pink in is unmuted. This is a general issue. Try doing this through volume mixer recording and playback section

I've been having this problem also. I took it to the dealer and they had to load a new update for the mmi system. Luckily mine is covered under warranty.

The other solution is to turn the car off and disconect the car battery for 10 minutes-and then the mmi will reset itself. The problem, however, is that the issue will probably happen again.

Depress the volume bottom or rotate the volume knob. When on a Bluetooth phone call, the speaker symbol will mute, but unmute when the call ends. Either rolling the right steering wheel scroll or the volume button on the shifter area will should unmute the radio volume.

Here is one way to unmute the microphone.
Go to Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume Control.
You will see a Volume Control window up. On the top you should see different items to set the volume for. If the microphone is one of them, uncheck the mute box. If you don't see microphone on the list do this: Click on Options on the top and then go to Properties. In the white box where it says "Show the following Volume Controls" check the box next to microphone and click ok.
Now you should have the Volume Control windows available with microphone as an option. Uncheck the mute box and that should do it. Let me know if this works for you.
