Dear
Connect a telephone set to the extension of the fax machine port where it is marked as EXT.
put the document on ADF or platen glass.
press OHD/Spk Key (get the dial tone)
Dial the required fax no.(get the ring back tone-then RX tone(some kind of beep tone)
Press START.

Display shows sending (if not display may shows 1-sending,2-receiving, then press 1. for sending)

Take the hand set of the telephone hear the noise continuous.
If there is no noise, There some problem with hardware, misht be LIU card, main PBA or both. And you need the assistance of a trained service engineer.

How to send the fax from word application.

make sure you install the printer driver correctly and in you printer and faxex option ther is kax printer installed .when you give print command that time you have to choose the fax printer .it will open fax dialer box you have to type the fax number and then send it.

When I try to send a fax I must dial 5 then number, do I have to put the area code if it's the same? and it says dialing then no answer. Does this mean it is actually trying to send the fax? (military)

It never hurts to use the area code in some places it is necessary.
No answer either means you are dialing a number that isn't a fax or the fax you are dialing is not set up to auto answer.

Try a fax you know is working.

Hp 640 cant send or receive fax(NO ANSWER FROM REMOTE FAX

Since the fax machine is about 4 weeks old, why not give it back to HP? Warranty still covers it.

My fax machine will send faxes but not receive them. I have made sure it is plugged in and connected but no faxes will come through. Please Help!

If you have an answering machine, have it answer at three rings. Have the fax answer at five rings. Let the answer machine go thru it's cycle, and see if the fax picks up.

Do not know how to send a fax

Check the send/receive settings. A lot of times, these all-in-one machines have auto answer settngs so that the fax machine does not answer every phone call with a fax signal. Go into the menu and see if you have auto answer off or on, and then also check to make sure if you need an answer code to answer the fax when auto answer is not on.

Call the number from a regular phone line and listen for fax tones. No fax tones....it's not a fax machine, or the recipient has their fax machine set to MANUAL RECEIVE.

No fax reception

Send will work on any phone lines
fax machines are often set to only answer 'secondary' ring tones, double triple or higher. When the line was repaired the phone company may have dropped the special tone off your secondary fax line number, fax will not answer without that tone.
Check in the fax answer settings, what the ring tone is, specific instruction on menu settings in your user guide,
Ring your fax line, and check the tone.
If single number fax/phone, check that the fax is set to asnwer all calls then pass on non faxes

make sure you phone support fax.

if support you just pair it with pc and it should have install phone modem driver. used the modem as your fax out line.
