Tip & How-To about Cars & Trucks

Critical Information Needed

For anyone and everyone that is about to, or has posted a repair question, here's my tip.

Include AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE.
Vehicle make
Vehicle year
Vehicle model
If engine related question then include the engine size, or at the very least, how many cylinders
If a transmission related question, then manual or automatic

The whole "my car don't start" or possibly "heater don't work" or transmission don't shift" WITHOUT THE PERTINENT INFORMATION WILL GET YOU NO, OR WRONG INFORMATION.

Every time I see a vague question asked it reminds me of one of the auto parts store I worked at.

It was a simple "Ma and Pa" operation and i was the only employee.

One day a guy walked in and said to the owner, "I need some spark plugs". The owner stood there for a few seconds, turned around and walked back to the shelf, grabbed a box of spark plugs and then he returned to the counter, sitting the box of spark plugs in front of the customer.

The guy asked "Are those the spark plugs I need?" The owner answered, "I don't know if you don't tell me what vehicle you need them for."

FINALLY the guy understood what the problem was. LACK OF INFORMATION.
He then told what he needed the plugs for and got the correct ones. Along with the proper recommended electrode gap.

Sure you can post a vague question, but you may not get a response. If you do, then don't be surprised if it's requesting more information. THEN you get to respond back with the needed info. THEN you MAY get an answer for the question.

When all along, with the proper information to begin with, the question could have been answered WITHOUT the back and forth exchange.

End of Tip (rant)

my rx300 engine stalls when I step on the break and has a very low MPG of 5.5 with black smoke

Your only going to resolve the vehicles issues, by having
it tested at a repair shop or dealer

I think everyone knows that

You wouldn't be here or ask the question as you explained,
if you had the ability to resolve at home

From what you discribed ,I wouldn't use the vehicle at all
Have it properly diagnosed, before some possible damage
occurs

Yellow Engine service soon light is on while driving. What could be the problem of the car?

If you haven't already, I suggest that you take your vehicle to an auto parts store and ask an employee to use a scan tool to check for diagnostic trouble codes. Most auto parts stores offer this service for free. Any information obtained can help in determining the type of problem, and help in narrowing down the possibilities. Write down any codes, and fault descriptions for future reference. It is advisable to call your local store first to confirm that they are equipped to test your vehicle, and offer this free service.

If you don't already own a repair manual for your vehicle I recommend you aquire one. They contain very helpful information including, troubleshooting guides, routine maintenance schedules and instructions, technical specifications, and step by step testing and repair instructions. Most public libraries have a selection of automotive repair manuals available for free check out to library cardholders.

If you have more specific questions please post comments to this thread and I will endeavor to monitor new activity and respond as soon as possible. I recommend that you "bookmark", or "add to favorites" this page for your convenience.

is there any troobleshooting tips for a 1999 4dr chevrolet blazer fuel pump

Visit the autozone.com website and register the vehicle information. It's free and you will have access to an online repair manual for the vehicle. There is extensive information on the fuel system (including the fuel pump) and it is a handy resource for anyone doing maintenance on their own vehicles. I'm sure you will find it useful. Sure hope so anyway and best wishes.
