After some songs are copied, they can't be played in my mp4 player . Why is that so?

The Zen NEEON can only play MP3, WMA, and WAV files. If you put a song on it that is a different format it will not play.

My creative zen neeon hangs on creative logo what i can do?even it doesnt detects, then how can i format or reinstall the firmware?....plz help me....

try reseting it there should be a small pinhole on the back press and hold that for about 10 seconds if this wont work try putting it into recovery mode

  • Detach your player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
  • If the player stops responding, you can reset the player. To reset the player, gently insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch.
  • Press and hold the Play/Pause button while powering on your player.
  • When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.
  • It will display the following options:

Clean Up Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All) Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
    Reboot Reboots the device.

    Zen neeon 2

what you should try is to format the music folder on the zen. Then after that properly transfer the music and it should play with no problems.

    My Computer Won't Read It!!!

These symptoms points to a bad hardrive. Replace the hardisk and reload the latest firmware.

If your out of warranty with your Neeon, open it up. Loosen the 2 screws at the bottom of the player and remove it. Then carefully pry open the back plate using a small flat screw driver and remove the battery (it has a mini connecter on the top left, inline with the USB connector).

Remove the front cover. You'll find the hardisk on top of the board below the LCD. Remove it carefully from the connector. on its right side.

If you got a new HD, replace the old one and reassemble your Neeon.

Next download the latest Neeon Firmware Upgrade here:
    http://sg.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?MainCategory=213&Product=12214&dlcentric=9534&Product_Name=ZEN+Neeon+5GB%2F+6GB&OSName=Windows+XP

Firmware above is for Windows XP. You can download a version of the Firmware at Creative site in your region for your specific OS requirement...

    Before

    To install this firmware upgrade:
    1. Press and hold the Play button while connecting your player to your computer's USB port.

    2. Continue to hold the Play button for 10 seconds after connecting your player to your computer.
    3. Release the Play button when the Find New Hardware dialog box appears on the screen.
    4. Follow the instructions on the screen to install recovery drivers for your player.
    5. Download the ZenNeeon_PCFW_LF_1_011_FM.exe file into your local hard disk.
    6. Double-click the firmware upgrade file and follow the instructions on the screen.

I found the above instructions with other Neeon's forum here:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=176728

You'll have the option to format and reload firmware. Choose that option. Wait for the upgrade progress to finish.

When it's done, your player will connect and recognized by your computer. If it shows in MY COMPUTER as removable drive, then your in luck!

Proceed by drag and drop method of transfering your music files or using the CREATIVE MEDIA SOURCE ORGANIZER.

I'm currently looking for a way to hack the Neeons Hard Drive and replace it with a CF card just like what I did with my Zen Micro. Unfortunately the first CF card I bought (1 Gbyte) did not work on the Neeon, the XP wont recognize the player.

But I'm not giving up, I had to find a better replacement that match the compatibility requirements of the Neeon. I'll try different brands and speed. The CF card is much more robust and shock free. It reads faster with no hang-ups.

I'll post my results in the future if I succeed.

Leave it alone for a while, then try reinstalling the Zen Program, then plug it in, then rest it, then try to switch it on. It worked for me

Unable to clear non music files from mp3?

I'm a bit confused by your description, but you ARE talking about non music files... Is it possible at all that you deleted system files from your player? If so it really wouldn't respond. Try going into Recovery Mode; remove battery, hold power switch to ON, replace battery, release power switch when the Recovery Mode screen appears on the screen. Run Option 1 CleanUP, after it completes run Option 4 Restart. You will get a Rebuilding Library screen when it reboots, that's normal, then it should go back to your startup screen. Another thing to try is recovering you system files through a firware upgrade/install. I'm not sure it will work, but would you mind being a guinea pig? let us know how it turned out. Good luck

    Frozen MP3 Player

There's a reset hole by the side of the player. Try reseting it. It can freeze sometimes, and fix itself after a while. no apparent reason. reset, run the battery down and recharge. Hope it helps. this is from the creative site: The recovery mode consists of these four operations. * Clean Up: It is the least destructive operation. It scans a player's hard disk and removes any invalid links from the music library. It does not affect music files themselves. It is recommended that you perform "Clean Up" first before formatting or reloading the player's firmware. It is recommended that you clean up regularly if you frequently transfer files between a PC and your player. * Format All: It is the same as a Windows format performed in a PC, and consequently all contents will be lost after a format. * Reload Firmware: Reloads the player's firmware (Operating System). It will also format the player. Note : It requires the player be connected to a PC that meets the player's minimum system requirement. Select this option ONLY if you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install. * Reboot: Reboots the player. You can reboot the player after performing a clean-up or format, or reboot it without performing neither of them. It is recommended that you try these operations in the following sequence: reboot the player; clean up and reboot; format and reboot; and finally, reload the player's firmware. If your player seems to stuck in the recovery (rescue) mode, you can try the "reboot" operation first, and format the player if necessary. If it fails to reboot, you will need to connect the player to a PC, and reinstall its firmware. For a detailed instructions on how to install a player's firmware, please refer to Updating the firmware on a Creative MP3 player, or refer to the Web Release note of the firmware download. Unlike other hard disk based players, Zen Neeon does not have a rescue mode. Though there is a Player Recovery Mode , it is for use when updating its firmware only. 1. Detach your player from your PC , and ensure that it is turned off. 2. Close all active applications (for example, Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, or Windows Media Player etc), as well as background applications such as Norton anti-virus applications. 3. Download the latest device driver if you have not installed any drivers for your player. The file name is MStorage_PCDRV_LB_1_07_00_250.exe. 4. Double click on the file MStorage_PCDRV_LB_1_07_00_250 to install it. Follow the instructions on the screen. 5. Hold down the Play/Pause button while connecting the player to a PC's USB port. 6. When the Creative logo appears on its screen, release the Play/Pause button. The player is now in Player Recovery Mode.
