Error: "Carrier Stall" ID:470
To check the cartridge carrier:
1. Unplug the printer.
2. Move the cartridges to the left by hand and then take them out.
3. Try to print without the cartridges in the carrier. Do you still receive a Carrier Stall error message?
4. If not, put the cartridges back into the carrier and snap them in at the back. The message should no longer appear.
If the power light on the printer is not blinking, the error message may be caused by a communication error. Do the following:
1. Remove any other devices attached to the USB/LPT port.
2. Uninstall the Lexmark printer.
3. Connect the printer directly to the PC and ensure that power is being supplied to the printer.
4. Reinstall the printer.

Your cartridge may need to cleaned. On the printer operator panel, press Setup button -> Maintenance -> Deep Clean Printhead. Your printer will then print a test page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them.
If that doesn't help, your printer probably needs to be updated. The firmware update, available at http://bit.ly/p205fw, will help fix print quality issues.
The printer would need all cartridges to have sufficient ink levels to continue printing - that's to prevent damaging the printhead. Every time a cartridge is replaced, all colors
are primed simultaneously thus the need for all cartridges to have ink.
To save on your ink investment, try printing in draft mode and by making sure that your printing preferences is set to print using black ink only.
Sometimes the ink
cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position even when
the printer is on and the cover is open. Follow the steps below:
1. Unplug the
printer from the power source.
2. With the cover
open, hold the solid white strip that connects from the carrier assembly to the
ink cartridge carrier and gently slide the cartridge carrier to the center of
the printer.
3. Remove the
used cartridges.
4. Load the new
cartridges. Close the cover.
5. Plug the printer back to the power source.
Does carriage bash against side when power up? if so encoder strip is dirty or incorrectly seated... plastic strip inside printer lines on it 1cm wide, must sit vertical in slot on carriage
Might be somethin stopping print head from moving along rail, check ink carts are installed correctly and fully, check for paper squashed up left and right inside ends of printer. make sure carriage moves left and right
Try power up without cartridges and just black and just colour cart to eleminate cart faults does error change?
