You don\'t need to remove the top. The thermostat is the long skinny tube in the oven that comes up to the railcock behind the oven control knob, remove the front panel to get the railcock/thermostat out which has the tube attached to it.

Open the oven door and look up across the front for 4 screws.

You will have to replace the light socket. Part number is 3150505 at approx. 30.00. Hope this helps

in the rear of the stove there might be a wax motor that has melted not allowing the stove to be unlocked. or a stuck switch.
all too common with self clean ranges.
unplug stove, remove rear panel and begon looking for any type of heat damage, or any switches that may have been stuck closed.
i see this at least once per week

The problem was the oven microswitch, it needed to be replaced. Now my stove and oven works fine

some of the kenmores have the door lock motors in the back behind the large panel slide out an remove panel an pull or push the rod to unlock door if motor is bad for a temp fix just remove rod

It may be that the door interlock is faulty.

It will not turn on if it thinks the door is open. It will probably work fine if in manual mode - as this is not used.

If out of warranty, check the door interlock for anything broken off, and with a meter to ensure correct operation.

If this is ok, check cabling back to controller. This board may need repair/ replacement if faulty.

need strong fingers and a helper... lay the door on the floor push open the hinges and there is a hole on the side of the hinge have your helper slide in a small nail only about 1/4 " in to the hole this will keep the hinge out do the same on the other side then reinstall the door open up and remove your nails
