Amps like this only power down when there is a problem with the amp, usually a shorted output stage, but could also be shorted speaker wires or damaged speakers, it's a self protection mechanism

do you get sound from both speakers before it powers down?? if you do it is definitely an internal problem so take it to a repair facility,,,

if not check the speaker cables & the speakers themselve

Cambridge azur 650R shows "PROTECT" after Volume more than 1/4, protection-relay works, loudspeakers&cable are o.k, WHY?/Solution (relay broken)?

What ohm rating does the receiver have and what ohm speakers are you connecting. If the receiver is rated for 8 ohm speakers and you are connecting 4 ohm speakers, you are overdriving the amplifier. This will cause the protection to trip. Also make sure your speakers polarity are matched. If they are out of phase this may also cause a problem.

Cambridge audio Azur 540a repair

Open your amplifier then find the power relay inside push the power button and observed the relay if active. If so the measure the voltage on large capacitors. But if the relay is not active check the relay drive transistor and the blocking diode across the coil.

Cambridge audio azur 840a volume control problems

The volume control is a resistor ladder controlled by software. If powering off the unit for an hour doesn't fix it, I would imagine that one of the "steps" has a problem. Contact your dealer or visit http://support.cambridgeaudio.com/.

I need a psu for a Cambridge Audio Azur 540P phono preamp

any stepdown transformer rated 12V secondary with at least 0.5A rating would do (12V, 500mAmp). I know they said to use only the supplied power unit but hey that's business! but make sure whether your mains supply is 110Vac or 220Vac.

The left channel in my Cambridge Azur 640 amplifier keeps cutting out. Wierdly I can often 'shock' it back to life by quickly turning up the volume a lot. Any ideas?

have the volume control cleaned by a spray of electronic contact cleaner. If the carbon coating material is already wiped-out due to use, have the part replaced
