I have a 2009 Craftsman 27"/14.5 snowblower. Electric start very easy but when I put it in gear either forward or reverse, no go. Can you suggest anything. Thanks
This snowblower is stored outside, under a cover. Starts easy, but once placed in gear the blower will not move either forward or in reverse.

Sounds like the starter "bendix gear" has stripped. It's the (usually plastic) gear on the end of the starter shaft, which engages with teeth on the flywheel when you start the engine.
If you did not put gas stabilizer in your fuel tank when you stored your machine the gas will turn into varnish. Try draining the gas and put new gas and try to start it. Good luck
a hydro uses a foot pedal on the right side , you push forward to go forward or rock the pedal rearward to go in reverse - a regular transmission has a shifter usually between your legs for reverse 1st 2nd or 3rd gear - you also said the blades wont engage . are they electric ( with a switch ) or do you manually move a lever .
